One Championship MMA Series

ONE is returning to Jakarta on 12 May. To me, it is one of their best cards in Jakarta. On a quick side note, has anyone ordered their tickets through https://one.cognitix.id? Will you be able to choose your seat or just randomly selected based on the ticket you selected?

Main Event: Alex “Little Rock” Silva vs Yoshitaka “Nobita” Naito for the ONE Strawweight World Title.

Stefer Rahardian(Indonesia) vs Himanshu Kaushik

Vitaly Bigdash vs Leandro Ataides-Number One contenders match

Kotetsu “No Face” Boku vs Rafael “Indio” Nunes

Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol (Indonesia) vs Rome “The Rebel” Trinidad-On a bias note, I hope Rome gets KOed quickly.

Victorio “Indra” Senduk(Indonesia) vs Sor Sey

Eliyas “Malaku Warrior” Latupeirissa vs Dodi “The Maung” Mardian-Both Indonesian

Doan Birawa vs Riski “King Kong” Umar-Both Indonesian

Radeem Rahman vs Tang De Pan

One will be in Jakarta in September too.

Comparing One to UFC, I would say ONE goes back to the basics and focuses on the fight/accomplishments and not the personality or putting on a massive show like UFC does.

I saw my first ONE live last year and my only complaint was the start time advertised was different than the actual time. Getting a free ticket upgrade certainly made up for it.

ONE likes to bring in local talent and I am not sure if they did it in January, but they have had 'try outs' before the event. A friend went to the one in Bangkok last year and said it went great.

Is it similar to UFC as far as how much they mix stand up with ground fighting or does it tend to be more stand up oriented? I've heard of One for a while but never seen it. I'll have to check it out.

Depends on the fight, but there is usually a decent mix. I would say it it is usually 55-60% stand up to 45-40% ground. This is not including attempted take downs that failed. Again, depends on the fight and weight class. From the fights I have been to, I would say the number of submissions and knock outs are about even compared to going to the judges to decide the winner.

You can actually watch their shows for free on the ONE app after you set up an account.

ONE would be better if they only allow Asian fighters. The gap between non Asians and Asians is a bit big so to make it more attractive they should make it Asian only. It should be a more 'local' promotion. They must not try to compete with the UFC. When Ben Askren was here he manhandled all of the fighters ONE could offer, so thats not good for ONE. The gap between Ben Askren for instance to the others was way too big. Now they have Mighty Mouse, which is ridiculous. Which Asian fighter could possibly win from him?
