ok I might regret this...

I might be able to contribute a bottle of sherry (we have too much, I'd happily part with a bottle) when I see you in Jakarta soon, BA. You can take it back to Bandung for the Christmas festivities. That way I will be there in spirit, pun intended. :)

The bottle will never last until christmas!!!

But BRITS (I will accept a token American /Canadian or Aussie too ;) ) if you are alone this Christmas & want to come to our gaff, I will cook a dinner up - not promising nice sausages- none exist here.
But I will do a joint of beef & mash & veg & a trifle... If you want sherry in it arrive early & bring a bottle of sherry.

We are not poncy of fancy or anything- wysiwyg.
PM me before 5th Dec Thanks

Point of note:We have dogs - the big ones are not going to be pestering you but the Frenchie is the house dog and he owns the place- you have been warned

I think this is a great idea. If someone was alone for Christmas it would be a good chance to visit and have some food. I will be with my wife and family, but I think it is a great idea.

Oh, but you should look at Dutch Indo forums; complaining that over here is no
kroketten (croquettes) and frikandellen (fast food minced meat sausage, mainly horse meat).

they kinda have a point though, just sayin.

Very kind of you to say so Daniel50

It's true though, when I grew up we always light a candle in the window in case a stranger went past and wanted to come in.... no one ever did, but it was the thought.

Then when my sister was around 17 she was working in a local grocery store and said a regular customer was alone for Xmas could we invite him to come over for dinner ? My folks said yes, and for the next 5 or 8 years Alan would visit us every Xmas day. Turned out he lived in a nursing home, was semi independent but had no family left alive, or if there was any around, they weren't around.

He was a fascinating fellow, had been a pilot during the war, and we as much as him, looked forward to those days.

I think its a great and giving idea. It can be hard being away from where you started from during the holidays . So no matter what they say about you you have a good soul.
