NU 'Against' Full Alcohol Ban

For those of you who enjoy a beer or the odd tipple here and there, perhaps this is welcome news

Now, the country’s largest Muslim organization, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), has stated that it is against the full prohibition of alcohol in Indonesia after a study they commissioned found that a large number of young people in Jakarta drink oplosan regularly and can obtain it easily.

While this is what most of us have been saying any time this issue raises it's head, I'm sure the "Flat Earth Society" will come up with their usual anti-booze statistic.

Full scale prohibition solves nothing. It'll just provide opportunities for the black market. So in this case, better the devil you know...

Well I suppose it's because they fancy a beer themselves, but I would be most concerned about the kids who are drinking this illegal hooch
