Hello all, British ex-pat living on Bali here.

I confess my motivation to register here is that we're having a bit of a clear-out prior to moving house and I'm looking for a place where we can list various household items such as appliances, tools and the like for sale; and the 'Garage Sale' forum here seems to be a good place to do that, though it seems a bit quiet of late.

I don't do facebook or the like, which seems to dominate the 'I just want to sell some second hand stuff' space these days, so hopefully here is OK to do that.

Now I'm here I'll have a read of the other forums and get a feel for the place.

Cheers,

Chris

The problem with this site is that most of us dont live in Bali and there arent that many members.
The FB sites have way more people visiting and you'll sell quicker that way. Can you get someone to help who does have FB?
Good luck!

Thanks, yeah, my wife has a FB account but I can't bear the way these massive companies now dominate the space that used to be occupied by nice independent forums like this one, and refuse to be a part of it !

Most of the stuff I want to sell are things like tools and timber from my little workshop that I won't have in the new place, so not really handy for it to be on her phone, there'd probably be a lot of messaging each way asking about details etc.

If there's no objection I'll list a few things in the next week or two and see. Shame not many Bali members, am not looking to send anything by post, a lot of it is too big anyway. More a case of somebody local reading my ad, coming along to see the thing, us agreeing a price and them taking it away.

Another thing is that the expats here are extremely stingy (or simply have no money to spend). I have personal experience where -unused- items we offered for 1/2 of the new price, still did not get sold.

So now all is sold via Instagram, FB and even TikTok, Shopee and Tokopedia. My wife has a large customer base of locals that do appreciate the fact transportation and import processes cost money.

Thanks, sure, I use Shopee now and then, and thought to sell on there but on looking into it, it's more designed for businessy sales to many customers with delivery rather than somebody selling a few personal possessions for collection only, and you have to use their awful popup chat interface to answer questions, you're not allowed to exchange contact info to discuss/answer questions and of course Shopee will want a cut etc etc.

Ta for the suggestions though, if I can't sell in a relaxed, personal way on a forum like this, I'll give things to charity or give away to whomever instead.

As I am in Bali I'm curious as to what you have?\\

Possible list includes household things like kitchen appliances, some tools small and maybe large (a table saw and a woodworking bench for example), possibly a good bit of timber/cut wood, >100 flavours and loads of empty bottles for making vape juice, shelving units, gardening tools, grow bags, 1, 2 or 3 big hydroponic rigs, much PVC piping and connectors (for building more hydro rigs !) etc etc.

It all depends on where we move to, how big, whether we have a garden, how much storage space, if there's room for a workshop, what is absorbed by family etc. before then.

At this stage I'm just finding out where I can list things, we're not moving for months yet.

Moving is such a tiresome process. Ahh well. Such is life.

Why not posting under classified. Just make sure to follow the guidelines.

Yep, that's my intention, I was just saying hello as a new member well before listing anything.
