I was trying to find somewhere that spells this out - there is a super-high national park entrance fee of 150,000IDR (or more) for 'wisatawan mancanegara' and only 5,000 IDR for 'wisatawan nusantara'. However, these terms are not defined in the law, e.g., in terms of kitas holder, etc.

Anyone able to clarify with reference to law?

You want PP 12 2014. (link)

It only makes 2 distinctions, WNI and WNA.

So KITAS, KITAP etc, are in the WNA category.

I got a local fee upon showing my ITAS/ ITAP

If they want to be arsy about it I turn round & leave- and I don't care if it causes chaos for the dozens of cars queued up behind - in fact I take pleasure in it. :)

So what are the prices? We have the same thing here in Thailand 400 baht for foreigners , 40 baht for locals.

Sounds a bit odd. I also believe that is supposed to be a resident price and a tourist price. If you live here, no matter what you look like, you get the normal rate. If you are a tourist and do not live in Indonesia then you are charged a higher rate.

It should be, but it isn't. At least not to the law quoted above. I wouldn't put it past them that the fine folks who drafted the law are completely clueless as to the difference between tourist, resident and citizen.

In Thailand it is ubiquitous, in Indonesia it is only a few odd places, like Borobodur or Kuta, Bali.

I've only paid the local price at Prambanan, Taman Safari, etc since I've had my Kitap/Kitas.
