Moving city whilst on KITAS (student)

Hi everyone,
I'm asking for a friend regarding their specific situation. The husband has just been granted a new student visa through doing postgraduate degree in a different city from the one they are residing at the moment. The degree is a research degree and he is only required to sit in classes occasionally and the meeting with the supervisor can be done online. So they are wondering whether they need to uproot the whole family to move to another city if most of the work can be done remotely.

So my question is: Is there a requirement for KITAS holder to reside in the same city as the sponsor (in this case the university)?

I'm thinking....KITAS and SKTT might be a different thing. Technically his KITAS is still with the same school...pretty much the same, just the residence has changed. Maybe check with catsipil to ask how to apply for a change of address...just my take.
