I have been asked by one of our local community leaders to help get foreigners in the area to a "socialisation" meeting with immigration and police. When I asked for more information as to what this is about, I was told that anyone on KITAS/KITAP should be registering with the police on a monthly basis and none are. Is this correct? At one point years ago our local police had us registering every 3 months and paying for the privilege to do so. When I said that non of my expat friends in Bali or Java were having to register so often I was told there are different rules for different areas. However this feels like a way to get a monthly income from the local expat community. The police supposedly will assist with expats who have problems with immigration (quite a few have been deported in our town in the last year)

The police also want to introduce a mobile app to us that will help report and them respond to crime faster. Crime against tourists has previously been pretty bad here but is much improved now. The app could be a good thing we will see.

Anyway interested to hear your feed back on monthly police registrations, which is going to be a PITA never mind, no doubt an added expense.

Thanks

im on kitap , I reported once at change of visa status ie kitas to kitap for an stm , which lasts for 5 years , I dont intend to go again until I upgrade to lifetime kitap , and I was not asked by the police to report .
Seems to me administration systems here vary from area to area , for no reason except to extract money from the unwary.

I went to our local police station here in Ciputat to supply a copy of my passport and KITAP when I applied for my KTP, other than that never been inside the place in 18 years, they are totally disinterested in me

Yep,thelessonehastodowithpoliceherethebetter.

You were scammed, and tried for one more.

It used to have the need to report to the police and get a card from them. In my firt year I have paid for it but never ever saw the card. Like anglian said, they didn't care about it.

Now everything have been abrogated, the police have nothing to do with imigration anymore... except if one need to be deported, it will be them who will knock on your door at the ask of the immigration.

I don't remember which level it was, but it's a higher level who was doing those registration. Noting to do with the local police seating at a road corner.

Anyway, those time are over, you have nothing to report and paid to the police.

Where are you located?
My Police stated the same saying it was a local regulation. I need to go to them to report monthly or they will come to me. They issued me a STM valid for one month. I got the STM because another department requested it just to not have hassles because it is my understanding for quite some time now that there is no reporting to the police requirements any longer here. I'm not sure they can implement local requirements since it would appear to superseded National Laws.

Thanks Guys. I am going to ask the local who is trying to get me involved why we are being asked to report monthly.

.
Don't forget though that in any area they can request anything they want as long as it does not go into conflict with national laws and regulations.

So this is not necessarily related to the (abrogated) STM, although it probably is a continued local 'rule'. I would ask for a reference and something on paper though to make sure it is an 'official' requirement.

We are located in Kuta, Lombok. I have been here 19 years already. I am not going anywhere. I am very reluctant to have to start reporting monthly to the police.

Here's what I would do if the ysaid I HAD to go monthly- go, register... and leave- if they ask for money I would tell them that as far as I am concerned I have attended /reported in & if they want cash then they will have to go mug some other fool.
Tell them there are still some rooms empty in Lapas Sukamiskin :D

I know some fellow countrymen who are retired and here -in Java- on SosBud (extensions), to spend the winters. And every month they crawl on their bike to visit the police station for their monthly reporting. Because they were told they had to.

Ministry of Internal Affairs
The Interior Ministry expressed gratitude for the complaint / information that you convey. Actually, there Permendagri no. 8 2016 allows printing KTP-el beyond domicile if it is lost or damaged, but not all areas can apply for yet connected from the center. The solution is to take care of only a letter moved in a way to take care of moving letter from the district / sub-district, the district / sub-el KTP will ask you to then be replaced by a Certificate Move (SKP). Then, as the population is concerned to report his arrival at the destination it will be published Move Coming (SKPD) as the basis for the issuance of Family Card (KK) and the National Identity Card (KTP) in place of domicile are new, in Article 79A is said that the maintenance and publication of documents population such as KTP, KK and deed-deed no charge. If you've ever recorded KTP-el in the old place then if moved to a different address no longer need to do the recording, simply just changing addresses only. Similarly, to be informed and thanks

No no no no no! It's bad enough having to go to imigrasi every 2 years to renew MERP(the sooner that is gone the better!).

We should not have to keep going to all these places, once you have your KITAP, KTP and either have your own KK or on on your family's KK, that should be it, for life, unless you decide to give up KITAP.

I have been to the Police (Gresik), just once, when I got my KITAS from sosbud. I wanted a SKTT from CatSip and they said I needed an STM.

I have never been back to the Police since then, I am on KITAP now - wasn't required to go to police by CatSip for that. The only time I would go back to the Police is to report.....a crime.

I am an Indonesian resident now and I expect to be treated like any other resident. If an Indonesian citizen does not need to report monthly to the Police, then neither do I.

.
You could be a spy though. And many bule reporting do take oleh[SUP]2[/SUP] as chocolate or so. Yummie.

When I got my permanent residency a couple years ago, I went to the police station (polres) to report myself at intelkam as a courtesy, since I'd received indications from other parties that it was no longer necessary per the 2011 Immigration Act. The policeman is familiar with me, so when I stated this to him, he simply explained that nothing official had been passed down from the head of the police (KaPolRI). I got the letter stating I'd reported to the station and I asked him to let me know one way or the other if I needed to take the next step of getting the card that almost no one ever gets without going through extra BS. Eventually, I heard that the KaPolRI had formally issued a statement that us PRs no longer have to report. I do not know if that has changed since then, since I have never visited them again.

If you have kids, I suggest taking yours with you to the PolRes. They always expressed great interest in my kids and were much friendlier than when I was alone.

As far I read on the net the STM is still valid base on:-
Aturan dari dulu ada, Dasarnya hukumnya adalah
  • UU No. 9 Tahun 1992 Tentang Keimigrasian Pasal 60
  • KAPOLRINO.POL.:JUKAP/09/II/1995
The STM should be valid base on the type of status we are in like KITAS=1yrs KITAP=5yrs when we apply for it. So if we transfer from kits to kitap we need to make new one or when we move to another location. This is what I gather. For myself I just made a new one when I was applying for SIM and I was told I need not make a new one until my KITAP expire.

This makes more sense than what I was told today. I came back from the Police station in Bandung, I requested STM for KTP. They issued STM for one year only (it was challenged in the next gov body office: "Why only for one year not for 5 years", but finally they accepted it). The police said that we (foreigners) have to report to them every year - OUR sponsors have to.

Sorry for *really* late reply, but UU 9 1992 has been rescinded by Undang-Undang No. 6 Tahun 2011, which does not require foreigner registration.
