Michelin in Bali? ⭐️⭐️

Talking about Indonesian restaurants worldwide, as far as I know there are none with a Michelin star.

There are some (7 out of 11) with a so called Bib Gourmand which is an award created in 1997, attributed by the Michelin Guide. It points at ‘good‘ restaurants that offer a refined cuisine at an affordable price (€36 in Paris for instance).

Ooh, I will be in NYC in a few months. Will try Wayan and report back.
I know some of them, and I’m not so sure whether they are really Indonesian cuisines at all. If you look at the Spandershoeve in The Netherlands for instance, it is specialized on the Rijsttafel. Rather expensive, bit of upscale clientèle (Mercedes en Bentley parked in front).

Somehow not surprising - from what I hear, in the Netherlands the proper Indonesian food is found in hole in walls and not fancy restaurants!

Huh? Proper Indonesian food in walls? Maksud apa?
Munkin ini ...

Not sure Michelin or not, but being the world's richest tennis player, I dont think she eat at street food or warteg.
I don't think she's the world's richest female tennis player, probably not even top 10. I've never heard of her.

surely you're not tennis fan
she's world no. 3 but what making her as the richest tennis player in the world is her family. Her father, billionaire Terry Pegula, and mother, Kim, sit at the head of a sports empire, co-owning the NFL's Buffalo Bills and the National Hockey League's Buffalo Sabres. Her father, worth around $6.7 billion, per Forbes estimates, made his fortune in oil and gas through the company, East Resources.

Quite often visit NL and ate at Indonesian restaurants,, especially in the Hague. Lot of choices, from small shops to fancy restaurants. I've visited Tong Tong fair 3x just to find "authentic" indonesian food.
Not bad though not too special for Indonesians either. I can't say authentic, in fact many restaurants offer Indonesian - Chinese - Malaysian restaurant, to cater more customers, taste has to be adjusted too.

I followed the women's game in the Navratilova / Graf era, not so much now. Good that such a rich kid found the motivation to do something with her life.

Den Haag is one of the cities with probably most Indo people. So there is quite some supply. You need to differentiate the ‘Indonesian’ restaurant or toko from the ‘Chinees-Indisch’ restaurant though. The Indonesian dishes in the latter are completely made up (as Babi Pangang with a pineapple tomato sauce and a yellow Manadonese atjar tjampoer under the meat, Sate with boiled meat and a weird peanut sauce, and Bami Goreng with wide but flat spaghetti pasta) and the former are very expensive (restaurant) or not really that special (toko), it’s always the same with rendang, sajoer lodeh, kroket, lemper, telor balado, sajoer boontjes, nasi and bami goreng, …

A Michelin star for El Califa de León in Mexico City. It looks anything but a star restaurant. The taco bar is hidden between clothing stores. In the 3 meter wide bar, half of which is occupied by a steel plate grill, there are no tables or chairs. It’s blazing hot inside. Customers should put their plates against the wall on a narrow metal counter while eating or take it outside. The price of a taco is quite high by Mexican standards: almost $5.

Yes but that's not for a restaurant
They have categories now which is why the Crab omelette Thai lady and the $5 noodle man in SG get a star

I remember Uncle Roger also not being so positive about Jamie’s fried rice…

But he had -besides the acne- nothing to say about Gordon Ramsey who made Nasi Goreng during his Indonesian cooking show.

.
This little Dweeb, Uncle Roger, is such an A-hole! He promotes using low quality cooking oil, everything wrapped in Plastic, I don't understand how he can be popular! His negativity is, his sad trademark
Seafood from warm water is tasteless. Hence they grill, bbq it and serve it with plenty spices.
This what a proper seafood platter from the Atlantic looks like.....

With a Muscadet or Entre Deux Mers.
this looks sooo delicious! I think it's fine if these People want to move here, and open a restaurant, but I can't get behind outrageous prices, for very small portions! Keep that BS in Paris L.A. London, etc. Good food is meant to be loved by all, not just rich people!

You know that Uncle Roger is just a comedian right? No need to like him, just saying.
How can you take a person serious that wants to put MSG in a Boba drink?
Sure he can be a bit too over the top sometimes, but sometimes also has some valid points and plays with stereotypes.
