MERP Extension Online

The stamp looks like this:

There must be something in your passport, because the KITAP itself is in the passport, as well as on a separate card
Yes I have the Kitap stamp in my passport and I have the lifetime Kitap card, but I have no valid MERP. I have agents going to Imigrasi on Monday, they are not sure what to do.

When did you receive your most recent KITAP? Do you have your receipt? If it has been less than two years, MERP should have been included and still valid.

I rec’d the Lifetime Kitap in july 2022, with a report date of Sept 2027 ( five years from when first Kitap expired in Sept 2022). I still have receipt but no mention of MERP. The agent was told that as I was in UK when Kitap was processed, then I need to apply for MERP in Indo embassy in UK. Problem is that Indo embassy said they no not issue MERPS.

This is a strange situation that I haven't seen before. In the cases I have seen in the past, once the MERP expires you have to start all over again with a KITAS. Hopefully this is not the case for you. The 2 year MERP should have been included with the iniital KITAP and I have never seen a case where it isn't. I also though you had to be in country to process a KITAP?

🙄 How can you be abroad while Imigrasi needs your passport?
That is my question as well. This is what the poster said "The agent was told that as I was in UK when Kitap was processed, then I need to apply for MERP in Indo embassy in UK". Doesn't make sense to me either.

What were the government fees charged for your forever Kitap? When I got mine in November 2000, I got both in a single stamp.

It seems most of the confusion on posts is because of the agents involvement. Almost like they’re trying to create more income opportunities for themselves.

Someone on a second KITAP who just became active on the forum and has no idea how things work? I don’t know, the whole posting starts to look as a weird mix of sockpuppetry (creating an alias pretending you’re someone serious) and sealioning (asking stupid questions you already (should) know the answer to). So, trolling. Hopefully I’m wrong and he will explain further instead of having wasted our time.

NB: Obviously there is someone with that name active in Indonesia, see LinkedIn. So hopefully it is that person.

Thanks for all of your help guys. Hopefully my agent will resolve this tomorrow as I need to get back very soon.

Also like to apologise if I have caused any angst here ( sock puppet comment). To explain - Covid circumstances conspired, and whilst I was overseas from INDO, some travel bans were in place (whilst I also had a serious bout of Covid) which prevented me getting back before my FIRST KITAP expired. The Indo government created a concession window for people like me, whereby they processed my second KITAP, whilst I was still in UK recovering. This involved sending passport KK, etc back there to process. I managed the mutasi of my original KITAP into a new passport, plus a lifetime KITAP as previously described, however no MERP stamp was put into my new passport. This may have been an oversight on the part of my agent (very reputable and well known to us all - I have lived in INDO for over 30 years so all done properly). Hopefully this will all be resolved tomorrow when the agent visits immigrasi.

As an aside, does anybody have any experience of somebody going on holiday from Indo and for one reason or another the MERP expired before they had chance to get back to Indo.if I can glean how they managed to get back without putting their KITAP at risk my solution may lie there. Thanks for all so far, and apologies again for any angst caused.

With waves of people washing around the world it seems the strategy of most Immigration departments is to make life as difficult and complicated as possible. So good luck with Michael's Merp.

Going back to the original thread topic MERP Extension Online, I can't recall anyone successfully obtaining the Merp online. Or if they have the success rate must be pretty low. So with the inherent nature of bureaucratic processes "...to make life as difficult and complicated as possible", where would the impetus for resolving these computer problems come from? I just unsuccessfully tried the DJI website to see who is the Minister.

With Google I find that Silmy Karmin has just been appointed as the new minister for DJI and he is quoted as saying, "The tasks must be carried out as well as possible” he kindly reminded staff to keep up the good work and provide service ‘wholeheartedly."

Thanks mate, Indonesia has been good to me, I’m hopeful it will work out right.

There were some people in that situation.

see here for instance:
Post in thread 'ITAP holder, what if I am not able to return on Indonesian soil within one year?'

I’ve personally seen that my sponsor could extend the MERP by herself at the kantor imigrasi so that could be an option if the person is still in RI. But in the unlikely situation (I put everything in my e-calendar) my MERP expired abroad I would visit the KBRI and try to get them to solve it for me. Do everything to make sure they won’t challenge the validity of the KITAP.

I have never heard of anyone winning in that situation. Every case I have ever heard of, they lost their KITAP and started all over at the beginning but obviously some types of concessions have been made (hence your KITAP while out of country). Hopefully you will get good news from your agent. Please let us know the outcome. Intersting case.

Apparently the agent in Jakarta has procured a letter from the head of immigrasi at Soekarno Hatta, which she has sent by WhatsApp to my wife here in the UK, which basically says I am to report to a named immigration officer in SH upon landing. the important thing the letter stresses is that I am not to go to the VOA desk nor to the tourist visa desk as that would interfere with the operation of the KITAP.

This has arisen because whilst I have procured the lifetime Kitap, I did not do the biometrics because I was not physically there because of the Covid concession afforded to me, hence I do not have the final combined KITAP/MERP stamp in my passport.

It’ll be a stressful experience I am sure, but I have faith that as Indonesia has gone the extra mile for me on a number of occasions, it’ll come through for me again.

I’ll travel in a couple of weeks time, to start new employment, I’ll keep you all posted.
