Hi all

I'm currently holding KITAS for family reunion, since Jan 2019. We are currently settled down at LubukLinggau, 8 hours away from Palembang. KITAS and SKTT are both registered for LubukLinggau.

At the end of this month, we are relocating to Batam. Can anyone who is aware of the process advice me on what are the procedures I've to go through. I do know that I have to get both my wife's and my name removed from Capil LubukLinggau. For the part on KITAS, do I need to update immigration office at LubukLinggau (or, to be exact, Muara Enim where we processed my KITAS) or will it suffice to just go to immigration office in Batam to update my relocation?

On a separate note, I intend to get motor license for my wife in LubukLinggau. May I know is it "recognized" nationwide, or do we have to get it converted when we moved to Batam?

Thanks in advance.

Although a SIM is recognized nationwide, you do need to get an address change (mutasi) for your driving license. Not difficult, just annoying.

For the KITAS it is necessary to work via the Pak RT your way up, with the infamous Surat Domisili and Surat Pindah Alamat. Then you can change the SKTT and get a Perdim 27 (?) at Imigrasi.

Thanks @jstar for the advice. The sim is for my wife. We had not got one yet, but we're contemplating getting one for her in LubukLinggau rather than Batam.

Noted on the route for getting the surat domisili and surat pindah alamat. I read from FP's that the new address is required though. This may be an issue as we are looking to rent a kost when we land in Batam, before searching for a suitable kontrak rumah.

Yes you need a domicile.

Oh my God.

That means we will need to move to Batam first, get a kontrak home, go back to LubukLinggau, get the necessarily paperwork from RT/Kantor lurah/Capil, back to Batam to process the paperwirk at RT/Capil. Then, only can I go to imigrasi to update my new address for my KITAS?

Did I miss out any step?

Don't forget -when you put dates in documents and requests- that you officially have 15 days to communicate the changes to Imigrasi.
