Keep your head down when it comes to government posts

Are you referring to the bule guy. German?
Not German. Personal friend. Not sure which one actually earned him the deportation. Maybe since it was all 3. Good guy. Feel sorry for him. He has been in Indonesia for 30 years and did a lot of charitable things.

Holy crap 30 years gone poof! just like that!

My bad sorry because our resident media correspondant posted a YouTube video about a German getting unoccupied

You can imagine his shock. When they told him at first, he thought it might be a bribe attempt. Then he figured they were just trying to scare him into not doing those things anymore. They did drag their feet about it but it ended up just like they told him.

One should NEVER forget that we are only immigrants..... liable to be kicked out on a wimp.

If this guy owns an export-oriented manufacturing company with hundreds of employees, perhaps they will not deport him for the sake of his workers and their families. His business will have to close if he is deported, which is understandable.
Or maybe they’d find someone else to take his place. Have you never heard of a business being seized?

If someone, or the government wants to take over a business, a hostile acquisition can be relatively straightforward. It's important to distinguish between business ownership and the people who actually run the business. Owners or investors are not the same as the skilled employees, managers, and executives responsible for day-to-day operations. A new owner can simply retain the existing workforce temporary by offering the same salaries or even higher pay to encourage them to stay. The could effort to pay a temporary higher pay for the staffs comfortably because they acquire the business at a very attractive price.

This is not merely a theoretical scenario. Similar patterns have been seen repeatedly in Indonesia's mining, oil, and gas industries, banking, toll road, etc.

There are reasonable examples of Indonesian conglomerates with little or no prior experience in mining or oil and gas that have rapidly become major players in those sectors. A similar trend can be observed in the financial industry, where Indonesia's largest bank is now predominantly owned by parties who previously had no background in banking / finance business. More recently, politicians with no apparent experience in the catering or hospitality industry have also come to own and operate more than ten SPPGs (MBG kitchens) facilities. Well, in practice, it is a common knowledge that they do not actually operate the MBG kitchens, all they do it to appointment sub contractor and to take cut (commission). In MBG case it is called 'uang lewat' they receive full payment from the government and they pass it to the sub contractors who run the MBG kitchens after taking their cut.

Previously when someone said “almost any investment can become a good investment if you buy it at a very attractive price ” Yet, there are still a few people who fail to understand this fundamental truth and wisdom in investing (Post #723 & #724). Do sensible people actuality need the help of AI to know this general truth ??

To ‘do a lot of charitable things’ could be considered work here. Even without financial compensation.

The certainly seems to be the case but they never actually came out and said it was related to working without a permit. They have been rather vague about the whole thing. At the time he was at the airport waiting on his passport, they still hadn't provided him with any official paperwork. I will know more about that part in a day or so. I will update the post when I know. I imagine all the orphans he has helped over the years appreciate what he did for them, the government not so much.
