Hello guys, hope you all been doing great so far. Just curious is anyone here are doing powerlifting, since I don't really see that many on ins or in the gym (cel-fit in PTC before covid)..

I do a daily morning routine with 6kg dumbells but I suspect that doesn't qualify

I lift 2-3 Bintang a few days per week, about 20 reps each.

I do miss the pre-Covid times when I could go to the bar gym and lift Bintangs with my mates.

LMAO we all miss pre-covid time.. but sad tho I am in sby the clubs here are not as crazy as the ones in the states and in China and even bali

I just looked at a "crossfit" video. Struth and stone the crows. No thanks. Just my "powerlifting" 6kg dumbells and a variety of yoga, physio stretches based on the principle that if you don't use it you lose it.

I take it Sby is Surabaya?

Don’t you mean weightlifting? When I hear powerlifting I think of competitors doing ‘clean and jerks’, flipping over mining truck tires and stuff like that.

Lol no I would say they are quite different. Weightlifting is the one with the clean and jerks lol. Powerlifting only has one motion, and not only it focus on how much you lift but also focus on the technical skills and the control of the lift.

I guess its not really common yet in Indonesia yet haha so a lot of people are not familiar with both

Isn't a clean and jerk a power lift? It's an olympic lift anyway and I've always considered it part of power lifting. To me weight lifting is more about isolating a muscle group and power lifting. I guess pure power lifting is mainly the squat bench and deadlift, but I lump snatches in jerks in there to.

I've done it a bit in the past, but Covid put a damper on that for a while.

Powerlfiting is squat, deadlift and bench press. I deadlift and bench at home, don't squat too much with heavy weights now. I found that most gyms here were simply not equipped for deadlifts, no space and not enough plates.
There are a few places to pickup squat racks, a lot are overpriced, so I took some plans to a competent welder and had one made for much less.
