I once saved up for a very long time to buy a (at the time) top of the line Sony Vario laptop, if I recall correctly it was around ~2400 dollars, which was a huge amount of money for me at the time to be spending on a single item. I was so happy with it in the beginning, but after 2 years the screen started to show issues, battery would drain very quickly, certain keys on the keyboard would randomly stop working etc, it was time to buy a new laptop. Besides the Apple iPods I didn't know too much about Apple but figured I'd give their entry level 13" model (1000 usd) a try; I was sold immediately. Used it for 6 years before I upgraded, and the main reason to upgrade was that I needed a larger screen size for AutoCAD etc on the go. Sold the old one for 7,5jt.. That's just over 30% depreciation over 6 years, for a laptop! And my current one is now almost 4 years in use and still no issues whatsoever (knock on wood).
I know I sound like an Apple fanboy, but everything just works, seamlessly. I've never had my laptop crash, there are rarely security/virus issues, the integration with other devices is absolutely great. I do however not go running to the store to get the newest of the newest every year, as long as it still works for me that's fine.
I read someone saying that all the "new" features Apple introduces usually have already been used on Android phones for a while. While that may be true, what I found was that most of those features have a lot of issues to work when they are first introduced, whereas Apple makes sure that they work properly right of the bat. Sure, sometimes they f up, they're not perfect, but who is?
