I finally got KITAP - yaayy

Thanks for the Info dafluff, I think I will put it off a bit, hopefully when the pound gets better, if ever.

Today UKP dropped below USD1.30 and IDR 17,090.
UK is at odds with China over the Hinkley nuclear powerplant they promised, and the Chinese say if cancelled it will sour relations between the two.

What's more depressing Davita is seeing what the rate is at the bank, BCA Kurs is quite depressing

I got depressed just before the Brexit vote and converted all my substantial UKP savings into Rp at IDR 20,000....got lucky as I didn't even predict the Brexit outcome.

.....
The other benefit of having KTP is that it makes a lot of paperwork easier, rather than bringing a passport everywhere.

Does that mean that legally we need only carry our KTP when we go out and can leave our passports and other docs at home.?

If asked to show documents by immigration while out and about.. is producing the KTP going to satisfy them or could they still insist on the original passport.?

If any of you would like to know more about the process or would like to get one done via this agent that I know, please PM me. I highly recommend this agent for his work.

Wombat

PS: I also obtained a 2 year MERP as part of the deal.

Wombat - could I ask you to give the agent's contact information so that I can add it to this thread? I'm hoping to include the thread in the directory for this subforum, but I'd like it to contain just a little bit more specific advice first. Adding your agent's info will push it over the top.

I believe that this should be enough, but I have never heard concrete proof either way.

We spent the standard on my Kitap. About 5.6jt including 2 year MERP. I'd have a heart attack if I had spent 30jt.

I saw Atlantis mention 10jt for his Kitap before, but perhaps that's a "lifetime" Kitap?

yap its a lifetime kitap jamie

on KTP, i'm in the process but they are out of forms...... anyway, you'd think they'd mention you need one when you get your Kartu keluarga since its the same office.

Puspa.

I need to check with the agent if he does not mind his name is published on forums such as this.

KTP Orang Asing - referring to UU no 6, 2006 on Civil Adminstration

Art 21
1. Foreigners who convert ITAS to ITAP are required to report to the implementing agency (in this case Catatan Sipil) within 14 days of the issuing of ITAP.
2. Based on the report in 1., the implementing agency will register and issue KK and KTP.

Art 89
2. Administrative sanction for failing the above is at maximum Rp 2.000.000,-

So you are required to register and have KTP and KK OA, but the worst they can do is ding you Rp 2 million.

The other benefit of having KTP is that it makes a lot of paperwork easier, rather than bringing a passport everywhere.

I have a friend who is also a KITAP holder, the difference is that he’s not married to an Indonesian while I am. And he told me that KTP Orang Asing is only for KITAP holders with Indonesian spouse. Looking at your post (Art 21), I think he is right (no KTP OA for KITAP holders without Indonesian spouse).

That would seem odd since the KTP is for residents and the KITAP makes you just that. You are no longer just considered a visitor.

KTP OA is for all foreigners on any kind of KITAP.
Yes there is a fine when you are late applying but in general you can go request your KTP OA without getting sanctioned. Often they have a backlog, short of cards etc so they don't really bother you. Personally I don't see why we all need that card. It's free and the only advantages is when you would like to get a driver's license or a loan. For the rest your eKITAP will be sufficient.
In case you get asked for your KTP, you still can say you weren't aware of it. When you ask imigrasi, most of them don't even know about the fact if it is required or not. It's not an imigrasi document so. I don't have one and if I need to pay a fine of 2 jt, I am fine with it.

Good for you. But bad advice.

Kitap

After about 3 months I finally got my 5 years KITAP under spouse sponsorship with the help of an agent.
I read in this forum that DIY KITAP cost less than 10 juta. Mine cost about three times that.

However, I did not have to do the legwork. I only had to visit west Jakarta immigration twice for photo and finger prints (one for company to spouse KITAS sponsorship transfer, and another for spouse sponsored KITAS to spouse sponsored KITAP). I also had to visit Kemenkumham Kanwil office in Jakarta for an interview.

If any of you would like to know more about the process or would like to get one done via this agent that I know, please PM me. I highly recommend this agent for his work.

Applied for my VITAS 8 weeks ago took 4 weeks to get my KITAS. I'm 3 weeks into my KITAP and will go next week for fingerprints and photos. Should have my KITAP the following week. Total time from VITAS application to KITAS application to KITAP approval 10 weeks.
