Hi All, I was a long term user on liif but been a bit quiet of late.
I've just moved to Semarang so onto my 4th city I've lived in here. It's a welcome change from Jakarta. Though very glad of gojek being here too. Has made the last couple of days of not knowing where to go or eat much easier.

I travel very slowly 4th city (plus one in the uk in the middle) over 12 years
Semarang seems nice so far. I'm living in the hills so enjoying the green and cooler evenings. Looking forward to being able to get to trails and nice rides without having to battle traffic.

I always thought Semarang was off the list as where I wanted to work was only a primary school. Good luck for me that this is their first year opening a secondary school too
You wouldnt be working in Bekasi now would you? Or have I got the wrong person?

I kept meaning to come before I moved but never got around to it. The issue was that's my son's time to go to sleep. Nobody else in my house can get him to sleep at a reasonable time so I'd come back to an overtired little boy still running around.
Also I've gotten a bit crazy with triathlon training this last year and have been getting up to train at 5am

I hear you have a very nice set up for your gamelan now in your new place. Hopefully will get to see it when I come back to Jakarta to visit I hope I can find somewhere in Semarang to play with being so near the heart of gamelan country.

Yes, I've been wondering how your family is doing! How old is your son now? I feel like he should still be a newborn but he's probably ready for college.

Let me know if you are in Jakarta and need a place to crash or just want to come over and check the gamelan out (the new set-up is fantastic). You are welcome any time!

My grandma lived in Semarang, so we used to go there every year. I still have several relatives there. It used to be a nice quaint town, but not anymore.

Yes I'm up in the candi area. It's nice being in the hills. Haven't seen the cathedral yet still trying to find my way around though is much easier to get around here than Jkt.

My husband just got back from Smg yesterday. And he speaks highly about Restaurant Koeno Koeni. Its up in the hill where you'll see nice view of Smg from the top.
