Healthcare and insurance

Well getting BPJS was so easy for me, I didn't have to go anywhere neither my wife everything was done on call and she got my BPJS card on her office desk within a week, may be because of my wife position as she is Civil Servant.

I think it's a privilege for Civil servant official only to get their WNA spouse on the BPJS or may be i am wrong as I don't have more info about it. You can ask the local concerned authority.

Note I am on first year of my KITAS
It's still possible on a spouse sponsored KITAS/KITAP but it is getting more and more difficult. Its pretty much depends on how the local BPJS office interprets the rules, since they are kinda vague. If you have a strong will and a bit of luck it's possible in some cases.

And yeah civil servants, with all due respect, have a lot of privileges and also a lot of contacts.

Your experience is different from mine. I am on a KITAP and they won't even let me apply. Seems to be luck of the draw on who, where and when you try. Not losing any sleep over it but it would be nice if the same rules were applied consistently. A lot to ask, I know.

Yes you are right. My experience also has been like this in the beginning. After various tries and visits to the office and thanks to my straightforward wife it suddenly worked.

Some also have the problem that their NIK and whatnot still isn't online in the system. Generally I would say with KITAP and a KTP your chances can be higher, in comparison with "only" a KITAS.

Again, nothing is sure and I also wish they would just be more accurate and straightforward with their rules and practices. Just say yes or no based on understandable and clear rules and not this wishy washy stuff.

Another thing before we talk yoo too much about civil servants privileges, I forgot something. When your spouse works and therefore has BPJS and you are on her KK then it definitely should be more easy to get BPJS.

My wife has BPJS and I am on her KK. Didn't seem to make a difference in my case.

Have had problems in the past with my NIK not being in the system. Had to jump thought hoops for the vaccination. However this probelm was supposed fixed and I had no trouble changing my address and getting the new red card. Always pleny of excuses to go around when something doesn't work right but who knows the truth. I've been here almost 5 years, you would think any issues would be fixed by now.

Yes it's really hard to see through their reasoning sometimes..or most of the time.

They told us if my wife would work and get BPJS through her company then I automatically would also get it if Iam on her KK.
The thing is me and my wife both don't work and that seemed to make it depending on however they want to interpret the rules.

Then at the beginning my data also hasn't been in the system but that was fixed a few weeks later.

So at one point my wife visited the BPJS office again. The worker went to ask her boss and suddenly it worked and I was able to get it. That's the thing,I can't really tell you what changed.

I had no problem getting BPJS for myself on a Kitap. This was years ago. I’ve never used it, though.

My MIL went to a hospital for tests this month at a hospital. It was an all day affair. Seems she has cataracts. We’ll see how that first surgery goes next month.

Agreed , but I am not on her KK because the department said you can only be on KK after 2 year of marriage or when I will get my KITAP ( Is it right), after that only they will make the changes in her KK, right now she is the only one in the KK with the kawin tercatat and kepala keluarga status.

Also I think location matter I am on Lombok Island so no much hassle even for getting my KITAS was only 2 visit with 15 min each and officers were so good.

You will only get a KITAP after two years of marriage. And normally one is not on a KK with a KITAS since it’s a temporary stay permit. So their reasoning is a bit of a formal fallacy (non sequitur) but in this case it’s not a big deal.

Currently the spouse is the ‘head of the family’ on the KK while in the (recent) past the KITAP holder had her/his own KK. There is no real version control and expiry date of the KK so we use both, depending on who and for what they are asking.

Just like everything here (vaccinations, NPWP, SKM, ….) it takes a while before a procedure is really standardized and in place everywhere so that’s why you get so many answers with BPJS. I think currently, generally speaking, reserving judgment, since a year or four, there is no more possibility to get it when sponsored by a spouse who doesn’t work. Although….. :twitch:
