Exactly...a lot of our friends are homosexual and we have dinner parties with all sex/gender types....we are very comfortable and laugh all the time.
I've been on a yacht for weeks where my wife was the only female and I was the only straight and the rest (6 guys) were all gay. We joke about this all the time...they even suggest I'm a closeted gay as I dress better than most of them.
We went to a gay wedding in Seattle a couple of years ago and it was the best wedding I've ever been to....including my own in Jakarta ('coz no alcohol).

I admit I used to be a bit homophobic but, after meeting with many, and seeing their way of life, I'm more educated and understanding now. It takes all types..it isn't a sickness not is it environmental...it is something in the genetic code that makes us who we are.

Ahhhh the Tanamur... That was when Jakarta was still wild. At the time (mid 90's) I was flying with a group of friends every now and then from Bangkok to Jakarta just for the Tanamur, finding that clubs in BKK were boring.

Whatever happened to the Tanamur, I heard it burnt down, there was a bar next door JJs I think it was called, the FPI used to visit it regularly, but never the Tanamur

It's not quite true. Hard line Islamist group razzias are one of the reason why Tanamur has closed, along with an increasing competition and the decline number of customers after the Krismon.
During the Orde Baru, no Islamist group dared to bother Tanamur but in the beginining of the 2000's it was very different. They ransack a few time the Club, notably in 2002. They finally closed in 2005 if I am not wrong.

JJ's was cool too but never managed to match Tanamur.

What was burnt down in Tanah Abang was the market. Another (famous) story.

You guys are bringing nostalgic tears to recall the Tanamur.
In the mid to late '70s I often flew a B707 into Halim and we would stay in the hotel Indonesia for a 2 day lay-over...those were the days.
We would land in the evening and, after travelling to the hotel and enjoying 'sup buntut' , we would head-off with some of our flight attendants...or without...to the Tanamur. I was single so always had a good time...wink! wink!
We couldn't go the second night as we had a very early departure the following morning.
All too soon I was promoted to the B747 which didn't operate, at that time, to Jakarta...I missed those short-haul flights and long-haul nights...
