Hello...my wife and I are considering an extended stay...I am a licensed electrician with a lot of experience...would it be difficult for me to apply my trade there and is there a need for skilled labor ?

Yes and yes.

NB: Esp. many foreigners here, on Bali for instance, are complaining about the quality of work and that they can’t find skilled laborers. And when they can get a good one, trained in a western country*, they get a heart attack when they hear about an hourly rate of $15 since the local is asking for 200.000 rupiah for the complete job (harga Bule), while they have to cough up an hourly $40 in their country of origin. Very consistent :nono:

* and knows how and where to apply a residual-current circuit breaker (RCCB / GFCI / RCD) for instance
