Indonesian Immigration is in the process of introducing the Diaspora Visa (A32A). As of now, it seems this visa has not yet been rolled out, and it might overlap with the KITAP/Family sponsorship but with fewer bureaucratic hurdles (see section 5.1).

I am currently on a family-sponsored KITAS and have been offered the option to switch to a KITAP. However, since my local office is in Bogor, I would need to travel to Bandung to get approval before returning to Bogor to finalize the process, which will take over a month.

If the Diaspora Visa becomes available, it might be a better option due to its added flexibility.

My KITAS is expiring at the end of October, hopefully this one is up :)

Just some considerations:

After 5 years, would you have to pay the 12 juta again?

If your invested $35K is non profitable, you could easily lose a possible $1.750 every year (5% deposito for instance). Over 5 years that means you would miss out on more than $8K. Quite expensive then.

hey @Bonaldi Kresnanto, I am keen to explore this option too, seems like a simpler application process (assuming you are willing to park the fund of course) ...wanting to hear people with experience with this visa. e.g How long does it take for the whole thing to be approved? can it be done onshore or needs to be offshore?

@jstar I read somewhere that deposito in government bank is counted a valid investment too...but I might be wrong..

Im more interested with the saving/deposit option.
But, if purchasing stock is the only option, buying then selling it again for the sake of getting proof of purchase may work

This E32A visa has been available since the beginning of this year, so it is not new. People have already applied for this visa along with other types of golden visas for non-Indonesians, such as the E33x visa index. You can actually apply now through the Molina or eVisa sites.

Assuming you are an ex-WNI (former Indonesian citizen) and have no intention to work in Indonesia, you currently have two better options to consider:
  1. E32C for ex-WNI: This visa has terms similar to the old visa index, with no investment requirement but does require a guarantor. You could ask a parent or close relative, particularly those who are financially sound, to be your guarantor.
  2. E32D: This option has a less investment requirement of just US$15k for one year and is extendable.
Additionally, there are discussions going in Indonesia about potentially introducing overseas citizenship, similar to the OCI (Overseas Citizen of India). If an Indonesian version is on par with OCI and it is implemented, it would be the best residency option, second only to dual citizenship. This OCI will allow you to work (with few restrictions) and stay in Indonesia indefinitely.

Thank you. I was about to ask this because I looked at the website and I was able to submit all socument up to the point the system ask for payment. I have not send the layment because I wasnt sure if this path of getting such Visa actually implemented.

Reading your comment above, I guess I can just make payment and wait for apporval.

Any idea how long actually it takes untill the approval?
My KITAS expire in November 2

Typically as I understand it people apply this from outside the Indonesian territory and they will be granted a VITAS. The US$35k in this case could be just a letter of intention which must be accomplished within 90 (ninety) days from the date of arrival. But in your case you are already in Indonesia.

I have no idea as I have no personal; experience. This visa is processed by the central immigration office, so the best thing is to contact them. Mind you they might not reply to your enquiries and they do not feel obliged to do so. In this case just visit their office in person. I think you understand this well as you have been living in Indonesia.

Im outside Indonesia but traveling to Jakarta every other month. My next trip is set for October 26 for the intention of renewing my KITAS.

Maybe I just continue applying that A32 Visa since I already started online (pending payment) and at the sametime I stiĺ keep my plan to renew my KITAS in case there is gap in processing time and my expiration.

E32A, not A32. As you applied from outside Indonesian territory, The pending, might be in relation to the VISA application fee, not the The US$35k investment requirement. This could be be accomplished within 90 (ninety) days from the date of arrival using that visa. But if you already have that proof as part of your application, it might give you a better chance for approval.
