this trend you have have of plastering huge discount signs around your store, but jacking up the original price is getting tiresome.

Sorry...just a mini rant. It's getting annoying, especially when Christmas present shopping.

I feel frustrated too sometimes.. But some stores are not owned by Indonesians.

Meaning many are.
This, and the fact that the lack of a proper legislation protecting the consumers of these unfair tactics has little to do with foreigners. Unless I got it wrong, Indonesian are the one voting the laws and enforcing them.

I would prefer they ensured stock was available, rather than the usual "kosong"!

Yep. Yet...when I tell people my experience is in inventory/sales analysis and forecast. I've had some replied with "Is that really a full-time job? Do you have to analyze things all the time?"

So long as one is satisfied with the price and quality of the product, there is no issue here. If it seems over priced, then don't buy.

I've gone to the pasars and haggled down to a rather low price and bought the product. Only to find later at a mall store that the same article is cheaper there. You don't get tagged with a price boost in the mall just because you are an orang asing in the pasar, it is almost a given.

I was with my wife over at Ambasador Mall in the Indosat store on Saturday(24/12 which will be important at the end) as we are thinking about getting a plan for the our mobile phones. The person who was telling us about the options showed us a list of phones we would have as an option. I noticed there weren't any Sony Xperia phones(they are listed on the web site) and I asked, but we were told no. Sony. I said there are 3 Sony phones listed on the Indosat web site with the same phone plans.

His response: That was last months offer.

Me: :suspicious: Ok we will think about it. :nono: Let's go love.

Aye right. I don't understand how something that is listed on a web site near the end of the month was from last month.

Sorry for being a little off topic.

many are..owned by non-Indonesians? Which maybe the Indonesians are just told to raise the price. Even towards another Indonesian. Especially Indonesians who go with foreigners. I'd rather to go to places with price tag to buy things. And with discounts. :cheer2:

But really, as Indonesian pribumi I feel frustrated too with some behaviours of sellers you all have mentioned. I usually call YLKI and BRTI to protect me as consumer. I wouldn't bother to ask about stock anymore, especially in supermarket. What you see is what you get.

ah I get that question a lot too when I tell people my experience is in another kind of analysis. I usually say "yes sir we DO analyse EVERYTHING". :hat:
