British consumer watchdog Which? has revealed many of the third-party phone chargers available to consumers could present “potentially lethal” risks ...

Nine of the 15 chargers tested by Which? posed serious electric shock risks, while eight also presented potential fire or explosion hazards, but more worryingly, many were available from popular and trustworthy high-street and online retailers like Amazon, B&Q and Debenhams...

The most prevalent concern, then, was that the defective products could cause electrical arcing, where electricity jumps between components, leading to electric component failures in the best-off cases, but electric shocks, overheating, fire and explosions in the most severe cases ...

Let’s warn also for chargers which are used in mosquito racquets and water bottle dispensers and with electric garden and DIY tools and -how could I forget- the solar lights and lamps?

Maybe my family is lucky , because up to now we didn't have any major problem with any type of battery charger (in phones, mosquito racquets, water bottle's pumps, flashlights, vacuum cleaner, ...) .

But we had many of them stopping work after few months .

Looks like that many things nowadays (not only chargers) are designed to quickly fail , so we have to constantly buy them .

Specifically about led light bulbs that are supposed to last 10'000 hours , I noticed that some lack proper ventilation , so they quickly fail due to the heat .

The LEDs themselves should last a long time. The problem here is cheap drivers. They fail long before the LED itself.
