Christmas is here !

Well, we're approaching that time of the year again so the tree is up !
Living in Manado, with a large majority of the people being Kristen or Katolik, Christmas is without surprise a huge thing here.

Christmas tree has been out of it's box since beginning of September, which gave ample time for our 4 cats to pluck out pretty much every single decoration, then to have our household staff to patiently redecorate it, to see the cats tirelessly shaving it off again and again.
I think my cats love Christmas as much as we do. That's for sure a period with a lot of fun for them.

The poor victimized tree will remain till March, albeit there is a moment I will give the signal to our household staff to let the last remaining decoration being put to death by the angry feline hordes.

Septembet to March ? 😱😱

Not for religious reasons but I follow the "traditionnal calendar". Set it up from the 4th Sunday before Christmas on the Advent calendar and take it down on Jan 6, date of Epiphany.

Our cats a bit older now and have calmed down, but a few years ago....

I adopted a street kitten earlier this year so it is her first Christmas. I put up the tree early (mid November) because I leave this weekend and I like to get a month out of it. For the first week the tree remained intact, but it's been absolute chaos since then. She relishes climbing it. Plucking off the decorations. Getting caught in the lights. I have just had to accept that the bottom meter of tree needs to remain undecorated until she is older and less agile. She is rather cute so gets away with absolute murder.

It's her playground.

With my wife and the tree being her favorite by far of the Christmas decorations and puts a bunch of time making it perfect to her standards, if there were a cat that acted that way guest would be asking what that pelt on the wall is. Needless to say, no cats at our place.

We had several young cats, it's like kids, you need to educate and make clear what is allowed and not. Of course the smart ones will wait till you sleep or are in the shower...
But a good slap on the rear will make them realize their mistake....

I've had cats most of my life. I do spoil this one more than the others I've had. We got her almost dead at about 5 weeks, she weighed less than 300g and I dont have the heart to be harsh with her. She is very well behaved in most things, she doesn't beg for food or steal it off a plate, is extremely tidy with her litter tray usage, has learned to play without using her claws etc. so I'm indulging the christmas tree vice that she has.
