What is the procedure for a christian male to marry a Indo Buddhist woman. I understand I need to convert to Buddhism but how.

I assume you want to marry in Indonesia? It’s necessary for both partners to have the same religion in Indonesia to get married. And there’s always a religious ceremony before the civil registration (which is illegal in most western countries).

Obviously that does not mean you have to convert. Anyway, if that’s the choice you made just visit the temple of your future spouse and talk to the monks/pandita. (Or have her make a visit before that.) I realize that’s not necessary for a conversion to Buddhism but you need some evidence and make arrangements for the ceremony anyway.

I guess you need a certificate to confirm you're a buddhist, and it would have to be issued by a Buddhist temple in Indonesia. So just go to one and ask them (your gf must know where there is a Buddhist temple). Anyway it will be pretty cool to have your religion as buddhist on all your documents.

You could also get married abroad instead, which may* solve the problem.

*currently unclear, although probably for buddhism it would work

According to indonesian law I need to be the same religion as my future wife, so do I need to go through a conversion ceremony or what.? I am willing to do what ever is necessary to comply with indonesia. Perhaps contact the registrar.

Ask the future Mrs Boxer to ask at her temple? I’m sure it’s relatively straight forward. I’m sure they have their equivalent of a KUA.
