So sorry to hear that this is happening to you Phiss. I.was screwed over by my very first boss here that how I ended up in Medan. I hope you find someone to take your dogs for you.

Phiss: now that I have found this thread, I'm caught up on the situation up to this point so you can disregard that part of my p.m. I know you do not have time to spare on lengthy explanations one by one.

This makes me angry too on your behalf. Seems like you have been a loyal and valuable employee and in no way deserve such mistreatment, both in the withholding of money owed and the apparent dishonesty.

I could name the company right now and could name the individual after a momentary google, but I will leave such measures to Phiss and I think this should be the last resort after any chance of getting more of her monies due have been fully exhausted.

Seems like your best bet -aside from any further - careful - effort to get money from this "gentleman" - would be to try to get your stuff sorted, dogs adopted and book a ticket back to UK as soon as you can ... sorry, that's stating the obvious, I know.

Use your time and energies for yourself and your animals, don't waste your emotional energy on this guy and what he has and hasn't done. As you refer to above, good intentions and actions bring positive response / reaction, and vice versa.

This guy and his school are well known in Medan. He has a poor reputation. Unfortunately he knows that there is little teachers can do when they are at end of contract and he does not honor his obligations. It is pointless trying to seek redress through the legal system as time and money are primary requisites. It is sad that Phiss's loyalty is not reciprocated but in my experience language school owners in Indonesia are often found lacking in common decency and fairness.

I finally have some good news to post! No, he hasn't paid me. That would be too much to expect. BUT.... I have found a good home for the dogs! A wonderful couple, who live on the same kompleks as I do, have agreed to adopt both dogs. We went for a visit yesterday, and it was instant reciprocal love between the wife and the dogs. I am not putting their names here because I am not sure if they would view it as a breach of their privacy, but I really do want to do so, and surround the announcement with lots and lots of hearts!!!

I want to thank all here who have been putting so much effort into trying to find a solution for the dogs. It is going to break my heart to leave them behind... but I know this is the best solution for them.

The other part of my problem (financial) fades into insignificance compared to this one, and its fantastic resolution! However, fear not, the ex-boss is not going to pay the money (that has become very clear), but I am going to make his life very miserable for several months to come!!

The first step is to name and shame... but I have to get permission from the mods first.

By the way.... bad_azz has got an emoticon in her name! I was going to use it here but thought that might be viewed as trying to 'suck up'! Heeheehee

Ok. So am I allowed to name and shame the ex-boss now? My only restraint before was that I might get yanked off to prison and then deported, leaving my dogs with no home and no owner! Now I don't really care! I am out of here in a few weeks anyway.... I will still be coming back to this forum though. I have built up a lot of experience, mostly good but some bad, over the years I have been here, and hopefully I can be of some use to others.

In the meantime, whatever our answer is, I would like to give you an advise as a user. Naming someone or a business entity, considering the ITE law, may have consequences.

Accusing someone and not being able to prove it with acceptable means of proof (witness, documents...etc) may land you in hot water. If our decision is positive, keep this in mind. Even though your plan is to stay only a few weeks, an infuriate school principal may have you staying longer than expected if he feels that you can not prove your accusation, even though they may be the truth.

Thanks for the advice Atlantis. I will bear it carefully in mind. Would payslips up to May 2016, work schedules for the same period, and kitas stamps in my passport for the last 6 years up to last October constitute adequate evidence. Unfortunately, he may have got me on the contract because he told me that we didn't have to keep re-signing a new contract each year because they were kitas extensions not an application for a new kitas. I think that all this really shows is that if he was lying to me all this time, he was knowingly employing me illegally. Please put me straight if I have got that wrong. There were witnesses to him promising me my end of contract bonus and airfare at the end of June. BUT they will not come forward because they will be scared of losing their jobs. That is understandable.

Anyway, revenge is sweet served cold, so they say. I can afford to wait.

PS: I forgot to mention I could get my hands on bank statement that show he deposited money in my bank account at the end of each month coming from him. Except for the end of May where I notice he got someone to deposit it directly as a cash payment, so it would be impossible to show that it came from him.

He lives on TASBI. Have you thought about a visit to Manpower?
