cashless highway

UPDATE: I have some unofficial confirmation that BCA debit cards integrated with flazz will be accepted on all toll roads. I will try to use this card maybe this weekend and see how it will go.
I look forward to hearing how this goes for you. Being able to phase out my e-toll card will be a big win if/when it happens.

Those BCA Flazz cards have always been accepted
They do the normal Flazz cards with BCA logo, they are blue, or there is an actual BCA Flazz card, brown, with batik design, called BCA Flazz, been around for years and always been accepted for the bus and toll?

I have never tried to use a BCA FLAZZ card at a normal toll booth. The important thing is being able to use them in GTO lanes.

I see exactly 0% chance this would be rolled out nationwide in the next month or so for a cashless toll system.

First, I'd expect all the toll booth employees to stage huge protests.

Ok so I have tried successfully today BCA FLAZZ card on the toll.- not the one which integrated current account with flazz but the basic flazz only card - and it works. So now I can use both e-money (mandiri) toll card and bca flazz card.

FYI some parts of toll road will have even/odd car plates scheme the same as in Jakarta.

I don't own a car, and I always take grab, gone or bluebird. I have found it difficult for the drivers to top up. Just now (and it isn't the first time) we have gone to 3 different Indo maret and none of them had a working machine. Most had no "tunai" to top up. And today I'm late to the airport because the driver is trying to top up and it took us an additional hour ....

What’s gone?

Sucks to be late. Hopefully you didn’t miss your flight. I’d probably invest in a card with 100k on it for such cases.

Hah I mean gojek .:)

I was only able to make the flight because I took Lyin' Air. Heheh

Well that's just it, I don't own a car or even a motorcycle. I guess 7 years on and i am still the fool, still expecting that things will work as expected a majority of the time.

Heck I've even been kicked out of bluebird taxis because I insisted on using their easy ride option (pay with credit card on the app) rather than cash.

I guess I need to learn a new skill, lowering expectations....

I already have a card for when I'm using any grab, gojek or bluebird makes life easier, the one time I forgot it he only just had enough on his card, what is it with only having such small amounts on the cards here... even my mrs wanted to only put 100k on ours when we drove into town waste of time..... just to have to top it up again within a day or two....

The toll roads etc. are not that expensive though. And the risk of course is, you lose those smart cards with stored value, especially if you use them a lot in a car, TJ, HomeMade, etc. And there’s no PIN or easy blocking. So it’s not wise to put too much on them.

It would be nice to have a bank independent central system (cf. Octopus in HK) which can also be charged with cash or online. It sucks to have to go to those special (non tunai) ATM machines.

Are there any phones in Indo capable of taking NFC SIM cards and doing it that way?

What is the approximate charge /km for a personal car?

Don’t think NFC can be combined with prepaid SIM cards? (My guesstimate: 80% in RI)

There was (is?) an effort to standardize the pricing on toll roads. See: http://m.tribunnews.com/bisnis/2018/03/30/daftar-lengkap-jalan-tol-yang-kena-harmonisasi-tarif

From article:

Basuki explained, there are four tariffs that apply in the toll road, depending on the year of construction, namely:
1. Toll roads built in the 1970s to 2000, the tariff is Rp 400 per kilometer.
2. Toll road built in 2000-2010 tariffs in the range of Rp 700 per kilometer.
3. The toll road built in 2010-2015 will cost around Rp 900 per kilometer.
4. Toll road built 2015-2018 tariff around Rp 1,500 per kilometer
