You have to admire the officer's restraint.

But after receiving her boarding pass, she went through immigration checks where officers noticed her month-long visa had expired on February 18.

Taqaddas was taken into an office at 9.25pm where airport staff told her she had to pay a fine of around £19 for each of the days overstayed.

The bill sent Auj-e into a foul-mouthed rage and she was caught on camera branding immigration officer Ardyansyah, 28, a ''f*****g b*****d''.
She was taken to an immigration holding cell where she has been kept since Saturday while officers process the case and await payment.

They said they had also reported the slap to police.

Immigration Chief Ngurah Rai Aris Amran said: ''She slapped the officer, who is a respected guard.

"She touched immigration, which means touching representatives of the nation. So we reported it to the police.

''Based on the results of immigration checks, Taqaddas arrived in Indonesia with a visa free facility on January 19, 2018.

Disgusting behavior by this woman , I heard she was in the immigration cell ,,hope she gets transferred to "hotel kerobokan" where she can enjoy prison food for some time longer .

You might think immigration staff would be categorized as "untouchables" by Indian thinking. Guess not.

Indeed. Kudos to him.

I guess that what is gonna happen to her will teach her to behave like the officer in the future.
This being said, I hope for the officers that the GBP 3.000 they allegedly claimed is not caught on tape. They may have hard time to justify why they have asked that amount.

The article says it was 160 days overstay at 19 GBP per day. From my recollection that's only supposed to be up to 60 days, and more than that is a different process with blacklisting and a maximum fine(?).

Exactly. This is why I said that they may also be in trouble. But I guess they are not foolish enough to have it put on tape.

Mod note: This thread has some posts merged into it from a similar topic.

Some background: she overstayed her visa by 5 months and was angry that she missed her flight as the process was taking long..

As an aside, I guess this event (and her twitter) also explains why our blacklisting article had a spike in readers this past day.

This one might have had something to do with it as well, in the comments the site is repeatedly mentioned.

Although this incident happened last month and was covered here in the thread 'British woman slaps immigration over GBP 3000 overstay fine' it doesn't seem to have had any sequel.
My understanding is she is still in detention but I cannot find any more news on her situation....anyone seen an update?

Ah you are right, my apologies, I have missed that thread.

I read in the media that she was offered to pay the full fine and avoid a blacklist, or not pay anything and get blacklisted.

They can't do that.. She was overstaying for more than 60 days so there is NO WAY she avoids blacklisting. The alleged fine, if there was any, is simply a bribe request from immigration officers.

If you overstay less than 60 days, you are subjected to a daily overstay fine. If you don't pay it, you are blacklisted.
If you overstay more than 60 days, you are subjected to no fine but are deported AND blacklisted.

This is the law a per art.. 78 UU 6/201.

The last I read was she was being held until she paid the fine. The media has been all over the place on this one. Is this a change in policy? My recollection was standard advice when overstaying is:

1. Be polite

2. Claim you can't pay

3. Don't admit to working

4. Get deported and blacklisted.

BTW; In addition to her horrible behavior, she makes it harder for everyone else visiting Indonesia. There has been a steady undercurrent against tourism since the visa waiver program along with the usual xenophobia. People like her that could pay $160 and stay legally for 180 days on a sosial budaya are getting into the country for free. Some Indonesians are arguing the policies are attracting the wrong kinds of tourists and illegal workers. This is simply more fuel for the fire.

In a way I am glad to see the video. It clearly shows she is wrong, but people will use it as a reflection of all foreigners.
