Did you just finish reading a rather difficult book that makes you feel smart? Did your child just do something unbelievably cute (no doubt because they inherited YOUR genes)? Did you just get a raise or a pat on the back at work?

This thread is where you can tell us about it, whether it is something major or something small.

I'll start: I recently ran my first official race, in the Kona Marathon Events. No, I didn't run a marathon or even a half or quarter marathon...I ran the 5k race. BUT I came in third in class.

Okay, my class is not exactly impressive (females aged 55 to 60). And there weren't that many runners in my class - 19 of us total.

Still, it was the first official race I have ever run. I feel ridiculously proud of having placed in the top 3, and when I go to the race website, there I am in the "leaders" list.:cheer2::clap2:

Okay, your turn!

I'm pretty chuffed that I snow-ski'd at 61 years after only having been a couple of times at age 19 - and didn't come a cropper!

I'm very impressed with my ability to let someone else post here first. I am so humble.

I had done 3 tandem parachute jumps and some in class stuff..... in preparation for doing it on my 70th birthday. Unfortunately, the winds were too high on the day itself, but 3 days later i did it. The jump itself wasn't scary for me all and very exciting. My real concern was landing on very shaky knees. But all turned out great.

.... So proud that it became necessary to start a "toot your own horn" thread. Damn, wish I had thought of that! Now I have to go out and do something memorable, at least in my own mind. I'm on it.

You betcha!

This is a very modest crowd on this forum. On other message boards, these sorts of threads usually fill up very quickly. WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU GUYS? I said brag, dammit! That is a moderatory order!

Wow, that is extremely cool. Where did you do the jump? Was it expensive? Do you think you'll ever do it again?

I once won a bronze medal in a highland games, in the caber toss

I have been rejected of MANY employment because I'm too good for them, they said "over educated" and "over experimented".

I still don't have job, I'm too much good for have one. :noidea:

unfortunately , this was not in the highlands, but in western Canada

It was at Lake Elsinore outside of Los Angeles. The first jump (tandem) was a gift from friends. Sorta a put their money where my mouth was. As I recall, each tandem was about 200USD and the package to qualify for a solo jump was about 600 USD.

Probably won't do it again. It was a check it off the bucket list type of thing and move on. Hang gliding is an item on the list I am thinking about. And I visit a site in the hills above Batu and it looks great. But I just can't feel the type of confidence required to do it after meeting and talking to the folks that run the place. The attitude seems to be survival depends on "Gods Will" Much like the drivers that don't think twice about passing on a blind curve.

I got new tires for my bicycle and plan to put them on tomorrow, provided it's not too hot.

ps I also got new khaki cargo shorts at Kmart so I look good when riding around town to showing off my new tires.

Congratulation puspa on your 5k run.

Ok so by coincidence my wife and me we got ourself subscribed in one of the local gyms. Not sure if that was a good idea. Paying for something in advance that may never be used is not good. Yesterday my wife convinced me gym is good because I will get motivated and meet people. There are tenis courts, badminton courts, swimming poll (not the olimpic size and shape), gym, sauna, jogging track.

We are still looking for 2 people extra so we can get the corporate pass for one year. Gym is based in Lippo Cikarang - Elysium.

You are better than me. A while ago I tried to put air in my bicycle tires and broke the valve. I had to wrestle the bike into the car and drive to the bike shop to have them fix it. I am not good with bike mechanics.

All those posts about bicycle make me miss riding bicycle so much. Maybe I should go to one of the countless bike shops around my area to get folding bike.

Aren't cargo shorts those big flappy kind? Got to be careful you are not face on to a high wind while riding your bike. You just might be revealing too much!! Don't want our Waarmie to be arrested for indecent exposure in a public place, do we?

….& here I was having picked Waarmie for a full lycra, shaved legs type cyclist .

I've been looking at bikes lately, it's hard to find a lightweight bike that hasn't got 97 gears, front suspension forks, disc brakes & all that crap I just don't need or want.

I really miss my bike that's hanging in my shed in Australia, it was 30 years old a couple of months ago, hybrid style with the basic 5 derailleur gears & still in great condition. I bought it with money I made from selling Bruce Springsteen T-Shirts that I hand printed & sold outside the Sydney Entertainment Centre when 'The Boss” was in town in March 1986.
