Hi. Does anybody know of any liquor stores in the Serpong / BSD area?

Thanks.

I have a feeling they are dry areas, I have a friend who lives in that area, also Bintaro and Alan Sutera, all the supermarket and restaurants are dry, he goes to Pondok Indah mall to get his refreshments, there is an Irish pub as you come off one of the Jalan Toll exits on the way to BSD, I don’t know anyone who has used it, they might help, someone might know on the forum,

Yes, there is a Vita Vino in Æon. And they probably sell beer and wine in the Japanese supermarkets also. Don't know anything else in BSD; you need to go a bit up north (read: towards Chinese and Christian area) yes. For instance to SMS (Summarecon Mal Serpong) where there is a Farmers Market. Not sure about (hard) liquor but they have beer etc.

Online is of course an option as well...

I’ve never seen hard liquor for sale in Gading Serpong or BSD, but you can head over to Lippo Karawaci and there is a small liquor store in Lippo Village. It’s across from the Supermal Karawaci underneath the Cinemaxx. Though at Indonesian prices you’d save money by taking a trip to Singapore with a friend and bringing some bottles back! That’s been my strategy at least. Watering holes that I like include The Docks at The Breeze BSD (German Food, Beer and liquor), Skipz (Pasar Modern Paramount), and The Barrels (SMS). You can buy beer at Ranch Market (The Breeze) and Farmers market, but farmers has fallen victim to local religious politics and has time restrictions on alcohol purchases. However, the Giant supermarket next to Bethsaida hospital in Gading Serpong has no restrictions on alcohol sales, but it is beer only as well. Avoid Hypermart.

Hope this helps.

Now here's a hotdog/bun question. Why is the allowable personal tax-free import allowance 1 litre when the bottles are 750 ml.

This is why the only place where you typically see 1 litre bottles of booze is at duty-free stores. Oddly, they occasionally have 1.125 litre ones as well. Also there is an annoying trend of 700 ml bottles. Do the liquor companies really need to hold back a generous shot?

Don't get me going my local bar keeps changing the shape of the glasses. Like coke did with cans. So now they are tall and small. I have a deep distrust when things like this happen. But the other day when discussing beer i went to 7-11 and bought a new beer and poured into my old style glass and yes it was 0.5l. Now have to find some excuse to check the new ones.

@BrendonN there is a liquor store at Aeon mall. It's right by the parking building entrance of the supermarket.

Good to know! It’s appreciated. How are the prices?

I don't really buy alcohol so I can't really say. Last time I bought something there was to get the cheapest bottle of red wine for cooking Bœuf Bourguignon !

They also sell various beers at the customer service counter a few meters away.
