Hi there!
is anyone having trouble in understanding the 'Peraturan Lalu Lintas Ganjil Genap' Rule at certain areas in central Jakarta?
Its a new enforcement that replaces the 'Three In One' Rule. This is very new and can be confusing, even to the locals.

there is a link that hopefully can help you understand the enforcement and when you are allowed to pass these certain areas.

pengecualian kebijakan

-sepeda motor
-angkot umum
- angkot barang

I don't see how this will help to reduce traffic on the road. Anyway this "system" seems to be .... complicated. Why not introduce congestion fee for everyone and divide Jakarta into zones?

yeah, i dont think its easy for either police or 'dishub' people to eye on every car plate. but yeah, its happening i guess.

congestion fee, yea? i've see the ERP thing on sudirman but not sure when its going to work.

Ahok is saying the even odd is a success. Well, it was his decision to put it back in place so I guess that would be expected. If Jakarta refuses to take illegal traffic off the roads then the only way they can go is up in the air with a properly designed road and feeder system. This would take an exceptional city planner and if history has anything to say about that, it isn't going to happen.

Electronic Road Pricing, involving motorists having to buy an "on-board unit" electronic gizmo, could be coming to Jakarta soon-ish. On July 28-29, 2016, Ahok issued Regulation No.149 on Electronic Payments for the Control of Street Traffic. Indonesian text of the whole thing at: jdih.jakarta.go.id/produkhukum/download/5801
The upshot is that 10 major thoroughfares are covered, mostly just CBD stuff, Rasuna Said to Gadja Mada. There's a "tariff" of Rp30,000 (though unclear if that's a trip, a zone, a day, the gizmo or what). Full pricing details yet to be determined. Ahok now to find contractors to set up the system.

The ones from the Monorail project are still available. How is the LRT going btw?

So far, it's at the same stage as the monorail. The support pylons from Cawang to Cibubur have been erected with the rebar sticking out. And then, nothing happened for a while. But recently, the workers returned and each pylon was given an expensive-looking individually numbered plate. Last time I passed that area, I saw plenty of cranes and truckloads of pipes, so work seems ongoing.

LRT and MRT actually look promising, but it takes really long time to realise. i hope it worth the wait, and im confident it will reduce the congestion in Jakarta.

hey, so the 'Ganjil Genap' going to work tomorrow? do you guys drive through these areas?

Yep the street is rather 'empty'. But the TransJakarta is crammed and looks chock-full. Mmm, bau ketek.

The question if whether they were prepared for the additional load and whether they provide additional busses....

I did yesterday.
Some police already in the Senayan traffic light to monitor, i passed there at 3.30pm and get stuck in traffic jam from Senayan to Semanggi.
Nothing different. I think because ganjil genap start at 4pm.

well, Mr Governor said TransJakarta has significant increase users. Its just obvious that he should add more busses. but hey i heard there are many drivers getting penalised for violating the rule?

How many officers were there? is the enforcement was tight?

I've noticed that there's really no park and ride type system here. Connecting to public transportation can only be done via being dropped off/angkot/ojek. Some train stations have parking, but from what I've seen it's rather lacking.

Sadly, i've seen people crammed into buses and trains here so i'm quite hesitant to even bother trying.

Why complain when all roads and trottoirs are 'kiss & (not) ride', OomBen?

Quite convenient and not expensive are the busses provided by the malls; and they take you a long way against reasonable cost. Example: Between the Sumarecon malls from Serpong and Kelapa Gading.
