Beats to hand out numbers, although sometimes they queue this way to get a number (e.g. at the station). I've also seen helmets being used.

For Lebaran, the banks are closing for 10 days. So now there's quite a rush.

Good grief, the businesses people will be going frantic, what loony thought that idea up, you can imagine the chaos when the banks open, trying to sort out all the chaos

Like this every day at Chatuchak immigration in Bangkok. The doors open at 8:30 but people arrive sometime 1 1/2 hours earlier. They put document folders. water bottles any thing they have to "book " their place and then go for a coffee.
If you use an agent. Part of their job is to get there early and ensure you get a low number eventually.

Does this mean government offices will be closed?

Yes many are closed between 11 and 20 June, for instance PKB and BBNKB (Bea Balik Nama Kendaraan Bermotor).

What is still open, but amazingly busy, is the parcel service. If you visit Tiki or JNE offices to send a package, you'll have to wait quite long. At Tiki there's a special deal between midnight and 5 AM (-20%).

Yep. I had to change my flight out as I cannot process my EPO (from local immigration)
