It was better than pushing them back to sea, and apparently the Indonesians they dealt with were pretty decent toward them. It wasn't so temporary. The camp was used for years.

That last paragraph's misleading. Indonesia gave many Indochinese refugees shelter in Riau and Rohingya in Sumatra. Granted a lot of Rohingya were turned away. I've met Vietnamese in the US who were very grateful to Indonesia for giving them that shelter. Do you have anything to support the...

Workers in USA Are Getting Less Share of the GDP

I believe U.S. workers can thank Reagan for starting the increasing income inequality trend,

Indonesia & Corruption: a few articles in the past few weeks

Why are you so enthusiastic to see someone put to death? Prison and restitution should do the trick. I don't think the case you mentioned is at all analogous to the case you cited as a precedent.

Google AI says esim activation outside the US is possible with Mint Mobile. Google AI's been known to be full of it fairly often but it may be worth a shot.

A Community Rejected the Build of a US$100 Billion Data Center

Maybe the difference in perception is that most large office buildings are in cities, industrial parks or other areas zoned for commerce and not housing, at least in a lot of countries. The noise from the buildings isn't as strong as from data centers, crypto mines and the like and there's also...

A Community Rejected the Build of a US$100 Billion Data Center

I don't think there were thousands of auto factories running round the clock though, and noise from them and other factories, mines, and other industries wasn't the constant low buzz like from cooling fans. It seems like abandoned underground mines would be good place for data centers.

And they emit a never ending irritating humming noise. Many of the new data centers are for AI and not so much for internet.

No Electricity Enough for Data Centers in US

It would be surprising if any knowledgeable environmental activists call for biofuel use since burning it produces carbon emissions and the deforestation necessary to produce it is an ecological mess.

A Community Rejected the Build of a US$100 Billion Data Center

It's, um, interesting that the DC area with it's high dollar real estate has so very many huge data centers (with very high security), This would have been another.

A Community Rejected the Build of a US$100 Billion Data Center

Not that that data center would have made much of a difference in internet service, but that area is infested with data centers already. They're not hurting for interwebs.

If the job was customer facing that would have been mentioned already. It's not management's business. There's only a very small likelihood of that. Oh don't worry about that, it's a discussion forum.

It's the issue to who though? Unless it's accompanied by a negative change in behavior, it's not something that's management's business.

She was with colleagues if it matters. Why wouldn't she eat or drink other than bottled water? Not everyone from the West eats pork. People are individuals, think different thoughts, and wear what they wear from different motivations. You seem prone to stereotyping.

As a matter of fact, yes. And people wearing crucifixes, Buddhist and Taoist amulets, stars of David, and bindis. Why do you ask?

That's of course your business and your prerogative. Personally I don't exclude people based on appearance, MLM logos and certain tattoos excepted. Getting to know someone doesn't mean we have to follow them, and we can learn from those with different perspectives, but that's just my view. The...

Keep your head down when it comes to government posts

About that second paragraph, helping orphans wasn't mentioned as a mitigating factor but as a possible aggravating factor in the proceedings against the man.

Why's that? Hey look who liked your post. It's confirmed the attitude's in his head.

Keep your head down when it comes to government posts

I knew a guy whose employer was deported and the business taken by locals, well after Sukarno was running things.

Then the issue wouldn't be the nikab. Has she said anything like that about her colleagues or is the attitude in your head?
