In Jakarta he lived in his English speaking bubble, whereas here in Hawaii all fellow Indonesian students spoke fluently Indonesian, and not so fluently English, and of course they would not speak English amongst each other. Where do you see the 403 forbidden error? I don't see it. Duolingo. Yes, I occasionally use it myself to learn Italian, but it really is not much more than a vocabulary and sentence learning tool. After a while, it gets boring because it is monotonous. It is not a substitute for a real course...- ukozok

This happens rarely to me, probably because my Indonesian is pretty much native-like. But once in a while it also happens to me. Then I simply tell them, sorry, English is not my native tongue, and then they usually stop.- ukozok

Actually, they do. In KBBI, it is clearly indicated whether the letter e is pronounced as Schwa /ǝ/ or as /e/.
