    new podcast: Indonesia's Defence Dilemma

Since taking over Hong Kong ??? Did you know that there was no political freedom pre-1997 ? Who elected the Hong Kong governors? They were not elected but installed. Who could you vote for? Nobody. There was no free press, any criticism of the UK government or crown was treason. You could be...

    Credit card for foreigner

If your credit card limit is 30juta (30 x 120% = 36juta deposit), BCA is very generous to give you an "Infinite" because it should have been "Gold" under 40juta. An "Infinite" should have limit above 150juta, under 150juta is "Platinum" in Indonesia as far as I know.

    EV in Indonesia

I guess it depends how much you use the car. If it's just short distance everyday, then you only need to charge the car twice a week or 8 times a month or 100 times per year. So 4000 cycles = 40-50 years of driving is possible, but don't forget that batteries also degrade over time.

    EV in Indonesia

BYD Yangwang U8 is the only EV that can float and sail like a boat, no worries if there is flood in Indonesia.

    EV in Indonesia

If the "lifetime warranty" is on the LFP battery, then it's about 10 years (battery lifespan) or 4,000 cycle count. Some people can be misled into thinking that "lifetime warranty" is forever as long as the car is road worthy.

    House Construction Questions

My house has timber roof truss with terracotta tiles, never had a leak more than 20 years later. But I noticed there is a layer of rubber sheeting underneath the roof tiles, for waterproofing I suppose. Terracotta roof tiles are itself good soundproof material as it dampens rain noise. It is...

If employer has job openings and is hiring to fill a vacancy, then employer pays for everything (including visa and work permits) if he really wants to get him on board. Looks like job seeker is desperate to move to Indonesia, so he accepted the offer. For the employer, it's take it or leave...

Excessive Red Tape strangling export businesses in Indonesia

As my title suggests, it’s not about passport or visa but “excessive red tape strangling export businesses in Indonesia”. I understand there are red tapes all over the world, but when it’s excessive, particularly ridiculous or unnecessary, somebody will complain sooner or later. All depends on...

Excessive Red Tape strangling export businesses in Indonesia

How to complain without offending the government bureaucrat? You don't want your "suggestion" backfiring as they can make your life difficult. Anywhere I can complain safely or anonymously, with guaranteed result? Nobody in business or trade association wants to speak about it publicly as...

    Wise (formerly TransferWise)

Yes, you are correct, only send and receive. However, you can only send international transfers through Wise that are funded externally, such as from a bank account or e-wallet. If that's the case, I'll just transfer directly from my bank account, no need to do it through Wise. As for...
