    Collections and memorabolia

Bottom right looks like some kind of remote control but it would be nice to see the whole picture. Have people stopped using measuring tape?

    Suharto - National hero?

For many, and certainly for expats. For others, not so much as the government was still trying to dig out of the deep dark hole into which the previous administration had put the economy.

    Entering Singapore

There are different reasons people wear masks, some valid and some not. Wouldn't the idiocy be thinking we know the reason and it's not valid?

    Entering Singapore

It's far from finished and it still kills but it's not as deadly as it used to be.

    New Bali Northern airport

Has it been determined where precisely this is supposed to be built?

A School Building collapsed in East Java

Profit? It's most likely a lack of engineering input rather than greed in this case.

'Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia' Rallies for Its Caliphate

And never underestimate the mental gymnastics the will to believe something to be true will put a person through.

Mmm, palm oil, yum. Great for the old arteries.

    Waste Management in Indonesia

That's good. I've seen it burned with other trash too.

    Waste Management in Indonesia

It is, although burning plastic is very bad for anyone who inhales the smoke though.

It's already happening, the US tariff on Indonesia is 32%, one of the highest one

So cheaper because tariffs will be removed? Maybe but we'd need to know what goods are involved.

It's already happening, the US tariff on Indonesia is 32%, one of the highest one

Commodity prices are generally benchmarked and fluctuate with supply and demand. It depends on tariff rates for other producers but I doubt an attempt to squeeze prices to make up for the tariff would meet success. Could you explain some on the second paragraph? How would undesirable products...

    Waste Management in Indonesia

I know you're not averse to pedantry so I'll point out that the proposed road to the new airport is indeed a highway and a motorway since motorways and toll roads are types of highways. People have burned rubbish in Jakarta and other towns for many years. Mixing plastic in with the trash to be...

It's already happening, the US tariff on Indonesia is 32%, one of the highest one

It's nothing new that the environment takes a back seat to greed every time. It's not just here. A lot of mountains in the US have been flattened and their watersheds filled in for a quick dollar. By the way, Sumatra is well past the point of being worked on.

It's already happening, the US tariff on Indonesia is 32%, one of the highest one

It may be better for the U.S. Treasury but it won't be for the consumers. But giving Bezos and Thiel low tax rates has to be made up somehow.

It's already happening, the US tariff on Indonesia is 32%, one of the highest one

That's not how it works. Indonesia keeping their sales prices the same and them swallowing the tarrif rate is contradictory. Indonesia sells for what they sell for to the U.S. buyer and the buyer pays 19% of that to Uncle Sam. Indonesian sellers may reduce their prices some and American...

    Modern day Tyranny!

Sharing the abundance with no border control would result in an impoverished population of 700 million before long. Freeloaders flock to free stuff like flies flock to ... Just a reality check but if the current poobah didn't want any SE Asians to enter then he'd just go ahead and ban them. Laos...

    Modern day Tyranny!

What do you call hate? Is it really hate or just teaching scripture? We couldn't very much fault a preacher for reminding the congregation of the tenets of the religion, could we? On the other hand, we could fault one for emphasizing just a very narrow selection of said scripture. Do the...
