Are you ready for Jokowi-Prabowo 2024?

I have heard this mentioned before. Can anyone provide solid details, please?

    new podcast: Indonesia's Defence Dilemma

I see fastpitch17 hit a dislike for my above. Why? It's a serious question as the CIA does have a history of removing elected governments and dictators. The first that comes to mind is Iran, but there have been others including the CIA bombings in Indonesia when they tried to remove Sukarno...

    Bali is Having Serious Problems

I have never been to Bali. What do people who live there think of the place?

    new podcast: Indonesia's Defence Dilemma

I believe quite a lot ... but Age can soften or harden, but experience tends to add a dose of reality to the mix. We have to remember he was never actually convicted of anything. That doesn't mean he didn't do what his accusers say, just they have never managed to prove it. This is the...

    new podcast: Indonesia's Defence Dilemma

Here's a couple: He was trained in the US and supplied with US armaments which he used in East Timur - Some claim for war crimes - Embarrassing As above, but for 1998 He was on their persona non grata list for alleged war crimes but they were forced to allow him in when he became defence...

    new podcast: Indonesia's Defence Dilemma

My fridges are Korean. I had to look because I bought them on specification rather than manufacturer name. As you say, it's possible they are Korean in name, but Chinese inside. A quick google suggests the possibility but I didn't look properly. I also saw something about LG in Indonesia, so...

    new podcast: Indonesia's Defence Dilemma

They are, and Indonesia is likely getting a lot of training value from them. The question is, in the event of a warming up of the cool war we're experiencing at the moment, would the US try to remove Prabowo, or even invade on a WMD style pretext?

    Dual Passport/Citizenship Borderless Travel etc

Thank you for a well written answer, but you missed an important point - Responsibilities. I saw a thread somewhere about a US or UK citizen that had taken Ukrainian dual citizenship so could not leave that country as martial law rules stopped him. We are in a semi-cold war at the moment and...

    Dual Passport/Citizenship Borderless Travel etc

I think we should explore the reasons why anyone would wish to have two passports. I suppose ease of travel is the big one for most, but that comes with responsibilities. Ukraine's dual citizens found that out to their cost.

    new podcast: Indonesia's Defence Dilemma

Remind me to look when I get home. The theory I would put forward at this point is the US is a lot less concerned at any possible military threat from China, but extremely concerned at the economic threat. I would further speculate, communist China is proving to be more proficient at...

Tell me if I'm wrong, but the vast majority of shipping in the South China sea that the US is protecting from China, is Chinese. My headache is not being helped by this confusion.

Are you saying it's democratic to have your leaders imposed on you (Except the ones that have no say in your future)? If so, China is a democracy.

A guess, or is that a stated aim? If it is, did Indonesia invite them to do so, and does Indonesia wish them to do so?

    new podcast: Indonesia's Defence Dilemma

The US has at least one aircraft carrier battle group in the South China sea at any given time. From memory, I understand the US 7th fleet in in the South China sea at the moment If that's true, there are 50 or more ships and subs, 150 something aircraft, and something less than 30,00 sailors...
