Jukung,
Thanks for that information. Our Agent told us of the rukes but when he took all the relevant docs to Immigration, he was told that it would all have to be submitted to and handled by the Indonesian Embassy in the USA. We are having it reconfirmed by the main office in Jakarta and it...
Three things have kept me here all these years: Summertime all the time, cops don't bother me, and good looking women. (One needs to visit a Walmart store in the USA to appreciate the last.)
Here is something...I used to work fo an aviation company. We stayed in a guest/crew house during our 3 week duty tour. I've seen professional pilots and engineers take things from their room when leaving on field break. Light bulbs, tissues, toilet paper and such. Saw one Captain steal a life...
There is plenty of information on cetting dual citizenship for children of Indonesian/foreign marriages. But no information on the process of terminating Indonesian citizenship when the person turns 18.
Any info on this?
Greetings,
My Son graduated High School this month. He holds the dual nationality (US and Indonesia) allowed by the government.
He will be heading to the USA in August to join the US Army.
Is there a specific requirement to clear with the Indonesian Immigration before his departure?
Had an invite to my Sons' classroom (English class) when he was around 6 years old. When the teacher asked me what should the children call me, I said "Mr. Gray will do just fine."

Hey, I'm not related...
I have sat quite a few of these assignment interviews over the years and always enjoyed the experience. Nothing wrong with helping a young person with a school assignment.
I'm aware of dealing with international banking procedures. My request for info was reference the gov't (tax) getting involved. I'm transferring a savings, not earned income. So if something like US$ 50,000 is transferred to a US$ account in an Indonesian bank, would it be subject to tax...
I've had a foreign based savings/investment account for a number of years. It is a bit stagnant no so planning to shift it all over to an account here. Any problems with the feds for that? It is savings, not income. Cheers
One of the reasons I've stayed here all these years is the friendly attitude of ethnic original Indonesian people from all the different islands. Ok, tourist traps are universal, but the regular guy on the street is generally a pretty good guy.
Ha...my next door neighbor is renovating his house. Is into his third contractor! I know what you mean, built a house in 1989 and renovated one in 2010. Part of the risk I guess.
