Music

Rock Werchter has started, That‘s a rather big music festival in Belgium. At the time, it helped to make stars of bands like U2 and the Simple Minds. I saw those perform in this festival when I was still young.

The torch is passed; one of the kids is attending. (The other one only wants to do Tomorrowland.) He’s rather excited about the concert of Amyl & The Sniffers. In a couple of hours it will be screaming, spitting, scolding, dancing and kicking by this punk band from Down Under. 'Amyl' is the Australian slang word for poppers btw.

The other one only wants to do Tomorrowland

They say the festival will still continue after the main stage burned down yesterday.

Luckily no victims but millions in damage. It seems there was an accident whole testing a fireworks canon.

This video is Hilarious! I think the name is funny as Hell. I remember those things from the 70's. Aren't they for Reviving People that Passed Out? I never tried them, but in those days, there was plenty of other delightful things to Puff, Snort, Insert! Swallow, and consume in various ways! I'm sure I lost some of my hearing to the loud music, and definitely some of my Brain cells due to everything I consumed!
It's funny how every generations parents hated the new music, and now I see myself doing the same Hah! This video was not very musical, unless you call a Woman shouting angrily, Music?
But Hey, I liked the Beatles, BobMarley, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Etc, So If the new generation likes this, then more power to them! 🤪👍🥳

Also George Kooymans, guitar player of the Dutch band Golden Earring, passed away.

This was one of their biggest hits:

Great to play on volume 10 in the car if you’re tired.

Christmas 2025 is coming. One of my favourite Christmas song: Grown-Up Christmas List

The song was written in 1990 by David Foster, who composed the music, and Linda Thompson, who wrote the lyrics, and it was originally recorded by Natalie Cole. Since then, it has been covered by several artists, including Amy Grant and Kelly Clarkson.

That last video is interesting because the video is in reverse order to the song. The reason is because it was a charity video with some C list UK celebs, but they didn't all sign off on their image rights, so the original video was taken down by YouTube. Since it was quite an iconic video, someone had the bright idea to do it in reverse order and avoid a copyright strike.

After a few decades, I heard this song again at a recent New Year’s Eve concert. It was once a top or high chart hit in several countries, including Ireland, the UK, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Australia, and New Zealand. It perfectly fits the New Year theme. Na, na, na, na, na - life really is like a roller coaster. Don’t fight it. Just gotta ride it.
you never know what the year ahead will bring.

Original version from Ronan Keating

Together with mates in the Boyzone boyband

Look at the backing vocalists/dancers in the second video, singing and dancing in the background. IMO this is art & entertainment. Now imagine if all the backing vocalists girls were required to wear burkhas because such a rule had become mandatory. If a Taliban-like government were ever to come to power, artistic expression like this could be severely restricted.
