That's what I am hoping for ... but I contacted 2 agents and they said I have to stay on KITAS for 5 yrs before I can apply to KITAP ... I hope you are right I just got my VITAS today (via the agent) and I am still in US right now, hopefully once I get there I can easily convert it to KITAS...- luckyluke

I applied for C318 VITAS ... no intention of working in Indonesia. Not retired either; only looking to get permanent residence. I am referring to Tinoz's comment (and some comments before that) that seem to indicate that the process to get KITAP can start immediately after getting the KITAS.- luckyluke

2 years? Some people reported that you can apply for KITAP immediately after getting the KITAS. In my case, I was told by my agent I have to be on KITAS for 5 years (renewing each year) before I can apply for KITAP ... is that incorrect information? I am so confused, there is conflicting...- luckyluke

I hope things work out for you. I just contacted 2 visa consulting services, they say that I have to stay on KITAS for 5 years before I can apply for KITAP ... they said only someone who's married to Indonesian citizen can get KITAP immediately after they get KITAS ...
