Location: Worldwide Caution

Event: Due to increased tensions in various locations around the world, the potential for terrorist attacks, demonstrations or violent actions against U.S. citizens and interests, the Department of State advises U.S. citizens overseas to exercise increased caution.

U.S. Embassy Jakarta notes that large demonstrations related to events in Israel and Gaza are expected throughout Indonesia for the next several weeks. Any gathering, even those intended to be peaceful, could escalate and turn violent. Protest activity may result in enhanced police presence, road closures, and traffic disruptions.

Actions to Take:

· Avoid areas around protests and demonstrations.

· Avoid crowds.

· Keep a low profile.

· Notify friends and family of your safety.

· Be aware of your surroundings.

· Monitor local media for updates.

· Become familiar with alternate routes to common destinations and plan to avoid traffic disruptions

· Stay alert in locations frequented by tourists.

· Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive information and alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency overseas.

· Follow the Department of State on Facebook and Twitter and visit travel.state.gov.

Whoa! Sounds like they want people to sign up to their fear factor and get on their data base! Don't do it! Stop promoting fear! And start promoting equal, fair, justice to all involved! Turn the Swords into Plowshares!

I'm pretty sure they don't want you signing up for anything.

Gee, I wonder why?
Do tell since the US has been very adamant about protecting Palestinian lives and has openly stated they support a 2 state solution. It has been the US taking the lead in trying to get the aid for Palestinians get across the boarders.

I respectfully disagree with you re: the role of the US vis a vis Palestine and the treatment of the Palestinian people.

If the US hadn't stepped in, bibi would have raised Gaza and eliminated all Palestinians completely by now. The US is who pressured others to get humanitarian aid moving across the Egyptian boarder. Trump's son in law is no longer making the deals excluding the Palestinians. Biden has stated publicly that the US backs a two state plan. Bibi is constantly reminded that Israel's fight is against Hamas, not the Palestinian people. Israel is an ally and yes, the US will support them but it has been made clear that support is for fighting Hamas only and to get the captives free. After all that, Israel is still run by bibi. There are limits as to what anyone else can do.

Everyone in Israel, right, center and left is on board of erradicating Hamas for good this time.

After that is done, there will be discussions about solutions, and transfering the area to the Palestinian Authority.

That's all good but a plan for Palestine needs to be in place before Hamas is gone. Palestine has a weak government. Hamas is intertwined deeply within Palestine. Hamas basically handle all the services like hospitals there. Palestinians have to rely on what Hamas gives them since their own government won't.

Looks like for Israel Hamas is a non-starter. They will erradicate them first (at least it is their intention to do so). Hamas is in Gaza strip only, West Bank is Fatah (AKA Palestine Authority).

From wiki:
In addition to financial and military aid, the United States also provides large-scale political support to Israel, having used its United Nations Security Council veto power 42 times against resolutions condemning Israel, out of a total 83 times in which its veto has ever been used.

I think we are to the point where if you don't believe that Israel is doing some really bad things, then facts aren't going to change your mind. It is almost like Israel took the Nazi playbook and turned in onto the Palestinians.

You can join next Friday the "Kill The Jew" rally and voice your support to the Hamas humanitarian organization. Evil juice.

Why does saying that Isreal is doing some bad things, mean that I support Hamas or want to kill the Jews? Calling out someone's wrongs doesn't mean you condemn them. Is it better to follow someone's allies blindly and ignore their actions? The US is in no position to claim the moral high ground with thier history either.

If Israel invades the Gaza strip it will be a complete disaster...
  • humanitarian disaster
  • strategic disaster as they will never manage to eradicate Hamas
  • political disaster as very likely Natuyahu will have to go. (Same as Golda Meir had to go after the Yom Kipur failure).

Not to speak about the international consequences.

BTW, I suggest some on here go back a bit to their history books, and learn how we got in this situation in the first place...
Start around 1900

Let's point fingers where the actual targets are. Saying Israel is a pretty blanket statement. Myself, I won't, can't blame the all of Israel and it's people. I point the finger directly at Netanyahu and his governments. It is he who keeps hostilities alive in Israel. The majority of Israeli people would much rather be living in peace.

When this is all over, Bibi will be out. Just unfortunate he has to stay for it's duration.
