enquiry on legal marriage

I am a non indonesian citizen and am married to an indonesian citizen. We havent done legal marriage in indonesia just a normal, formal islamic marriage.

If we leave the country as a couple will there be any issues at the airport for not having done a legal marriage. At the airport or any place else and is there any punishment for not doing a legal marriage in indonesian law?

Since you are worried about leaving the country and the airport, is your concern about immigration having an issue with your marriage status? If you have had a valid visa as long as you've been in Indonesia they won't care about your formal/informal marriage status.

Yes. Kinda confusing. You're either married legally or you're not. There's no halfway.
Nikah siri is illegal anyway and not recognised.
Only recognised marriage here is the one where you both get a little red / green book like a passport. You'd know for sure if you were married. Did you convert to Islam? Etc etc.

And marriage status doesn't affect your departure. Only maybe your arrival return back since you can't come back as a tourist VOA etc?

How will you re-enter?

Im a born muslim I dont know what nikah siri is but basically I met her family gained their permissiom then we all got together had about 30 people ish and goy the imam to get us marriwd with her parents in the gathering too.

Does she have a valid passport? Does she have a valid visa for the destination? If so, why would they care if she is married or not and who she is traveling with?

Yh shes got valid passport, visa and travelling with me

Unless they suspect she is being abducted or coerced in some way, she is allowed to travel with whomever she pleases if she has the valid documents (passport and visa). Is there some reason they might suspect you are abducting or coercing her? Please tell me she is 18+ years old.

no i dont think theres any reason

my wife just keeps nagging at me about legal marriage but we dont have timw as flight is soon so i thought lets sort it out another time but the way shes talking its as if something bad will happen to us so i thought let me ask on the expat chat to see what are the actual consequences if we dont do it now

i meant i never lived in indonesia as an expar ive only gone there for holiday to see my wife get engaged to her and 2nd time to get married

no we arent legally married i guess

i just went indonesia for holiday to get married to my fiance which i did with her families permission and relatives were present too

now im looking to go abroad with her but want to know the consequences of not doing a legal marriagr
