It is a symptom of the lack of common sense in most Indonesian people. As a general rule, most Indonesians do not care, or maybe not think, about their neighbours or the community. Traffic:- just push into the intersection, don't give way and then make sure all the traffic comes to a standstill. Shopping:- push in front, or throw your purchase on the counter in front of the person in the queue. Rubbish:- burn your rubbish including noxious plastic in front of your house, mainly in the evening and morning because the air is cooler at that time. Weddings/Parties:- block the street for 24 hours. Noise:- toot the car horn at your gate late at night until the family and neighbours are roused and the pembantu opens the gate. Parking:- park your car so that it effectively blocks one lane, while you partake of some bakso. Mosque noise:- any hour of the day or night, endless prayers and calls to prayer, never mind that the neighbours have young children or older folk wanting to sleep. I could go on but you get my drift!!!!
