Hi :)

I have an ITAP and wanted to renew my MERP. My husband is Indonesian and the problem is his KTP and my KITAP have different addresses is.
There was some confusion.

1st When I got my ITAP we asked the immigration officer what the blue book was for and do we need to do anything now we have the KITAP. He said no, we asked was he sure and he insisted we had no more procedures and basically just wait until the next renewal in 5 years.

2nd we moved and my husband changed his KTP to reflect the new address - this took a VERY long time (he applied in 2016). but finally got his KTP back - it was our understanding we couldn't really do anything without his KTP so we didn't. - mistake!

So now I'm not sure how to apply for a MERP, since my husbands KTP is registered in one district and my KITAP is still registered at our old address in Jakarta.

Please help, I realise now taking the officers words was not the best idea, but what to do now

If your husband's KTP reflects your current address, then all you have to do is report your change of address to imigrasi. If the KanIm is in the same jurisdiction, then this is just filling out a form. If your KanIm now is different than before, check with them what the need to process change of KanIm and address.

thank you so much for your quick reply
Is this still ok even though we moved quite a long time ago (I didn't realise I had to change my address) we just moved a second time since we didn't like the first place. So my husband will also change his KTP to our new address. Is it better to wait until he changes first? Or to change mine and then change both again?
And would I need to wait until our addresses are the same before applying for mrep?

Thank you so much! I am beyond appreciative of your help

You should update your address with Immigration every time you move. It is required by law. The Immigration office that is in charge of your paperwork is the one where your sponsor (Husband) resides. It may not be necessary to change your husband's KTP just for immigration. Check with them what they need. Sometimes a local residency card is enough (KIPEM).

The first thing you should do is report your new address to immigration. Everything else follows that.

Of course Dafluff is right about the process and procedure, but some statements in your original post made me scratch my head a bit...

When I got my ITAP we asked the immigration officer what the blue book was for

Blue Book was abrogated in 2014 if my memory serves me well.

we moved and my husband changed his KTP to reflect the new address

Do you have a KTP yourself? That is mandatory for KITAP holders. Just like you had / should have a SKTT when you were still on ITAS, you need to have a KTP OA now while you’re on ITAP. There are two registrations necessary; immigration and civil.

So now I'm not sure how to apply for a MERP

This is a very simple process, a MERP extension only needs the sponsor (your husband) to visit Kantor Imigrasi. The fine of not having a MERP is not that high (yet) btw, so if you never leave the country....
