Positive Effect of Trump

I'm not American, so really no interest on who is POTUS, however reading all the comments I am left pondering as to why so many apparent Democrats have chosen to live long term outside the US? All the talk about one month in and the sky has fallen in! Reminds me of my home country, except we swap our Prime Minister every 12 months or so!

I think most intelligent Americans can determine the truth in the press and tv .

Because they would be the ones that get their news from an assortment of services so they can make intelligent choices.

I have not read that a lot of democrats have left the US long term because of Trump. Sure, some celebrities said they would but hey, they are celebrities and say things all the time. I left long term but I'm not a Democrat.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say here - is it that the make-up of the American expat community is primarily Democratic? Or is it that there is a mass exodus by Democratic voters in the wake of Trump's election?

Either way, I don't think there is strong evidence to support your claim. Unfortunately there isn't an expat voting bloc (we vote from our last US state of residence, or for kids raised abroad who reach voting age from a parent's home state) so it is a little hard to be sure how expats as a whole vote.

Almost all of your statements are incorrect:

The proportion of Democrat, Republican, and Independent US citizens living abroad is roughly the same as among those remaining in-country. The proportions in all cases are relatively small and there has been no appreciable increase recently and nothing to tie any decisions to live overseas to the Trump election.

It is of course opinion to view the Trump administration as off to a rocky start, but there are plenty of incidents to substantiate that line of thinking, even after only one month. Things may get better, but there is certainly cause for concern.

Historically, the tenure of UK Prime Ministers averages considerably longer than 12 months, especially recently.

American psychiatrist who wrote the criteria in the North American manual for diagnosing Narcissistic Personality Disorder says Donald Trump doesn't meet the criteria. I know some people have thrown this around. Also, in his opinion, the solution is political not psychological.

Well then, that's reassuring. Of the long list of possible neurological disorders suggested to be inhabiting the Trump psyche, I guess that one is off the table. Sleep easy this night, my children.

Hahaha......well the thread is Trump positives so there is at least one but I am sure there are some who would dispute this Dr. even though he wrote the current criteria. I think it was 33 Psychiatrists etc. who wrote the The New York Times about the President having mental health issues. So here is a Dr. saying there could be issues but in his opinion they are more political.

However, in that very same article Frances said:
"Mr. Trump causes severe distress rather than experiencing it and has been richly rewarded, rather than punished, for his grandiosity, self-absorption and lack of empathy," Frances wrote. "It is a stigmatizing insult to the mentally ill (who are mostly well behaved and well meaning) to be lumped with Mr. Trump (who is neither)."

Charles Krauthammer was a psychiatrist before he became a regular Fox News contributor, and he's quite far right on the political spectrum himself. However, he had this to say about Trump:

"This is beyond narcissism. I used to think Trump was an 11-year-old, an undeveloped schoolyard bully. I was off by about 10 years. His needs are more primitive, an infantile hunger for approval and praise, a craving that can never be satisfied. He lives in a cocoon of solipsism where the world outside himself has value — indeed exists — only insofar as it sustains and inflates him."

A while ago I watched a BBC interview with a psychologist who did work with Yazidis women that were taken by ISIS. He said a very small percentage of ISIS fighters have a mental illness. They are driven more by a belief in ideology. This is probably true for some others historically that have killed millions. Their ideology is deadly but they are not mentally ill. It is easier to believe they are rather then to think someone who is basically sane could commit such atrocities. It is hard to get the mind/emotions around such human cruelty.
I am not saying this is Donald Trump but there is historical precedence as Davita indicated in his post and attachments.

Not positive efet of Trump... but still everytime we heard he drop any of his crazy campaign promise it's always good to know.

Trump talk about not repealing DACA
