4/11, 25/11 and 2/12 anti-Ahok demonstrations

Checking her I.D. and pushing her, assaulting her. These are some of the people some politicians are using to get elected. Pathetic. Just as pathetic some people actually believing this is the true Islam.

Pathetic is when someone with high rank and reputation in Islamic area, used it for their own ambition, whatever that it is....
I Immediately lost respect to that old man, but majoritry of Muslims would still blindly follow him no matter what and despise Ahok...

If he loses, it is a sad ending for someone who worked really hard to resurrect Good Governance system in Jakarta...
It is also a warning from the old regime punks, that those who are trying to do the same, will be treated the same

Yes "if" he loses it will be a big set back on a number of fronts for Jakarta and Indonesia. I hope he wins but with all the negative Islamic sentiment it will be difficult to stay in power. We will know more after Feb.15.

Some supporters of Ahok in Toronto Canada it is -9 celcius. Showing support for Ahok.

Daniel....Thanks for your utube link post #546 .
My wife put on her Ahok shirt and scarf and danced to the music while exercising...I even joined in...for a full 2 minutes then....

Some shirt/scarf maker must be making a fortune.

Seriously, if the spirit shown by those Toronto RI Diaspora can be emulated at home Indonesia would be rich....economically, morally, judicially and ethically.

Maybe that's why the gov't will not offer dual citizenship...it would contradict those with corrupt plans.

Hahaha.........glad you guys enjoyed the video.

Well...today is the big day for voting in Jakarta and some other provinces.
I was surprised to read that the polls are only open between 7am and 1pm...seems a short time to get the masses to polling stations. Also, if people still don't have a eKTP, and many don't, they can only vote between 12pm and 1pm...how will they manage that leaves a lot to see later.
I also read that the FPI will have members at polling stations to ensure safety...more like intimidate, or hand out cash, is in my thinking.

We should get the results from Jakarta later tonight...lets hope that the election is fair and the result conclusive, otherwise, the farce will continue until a run-off determines the result.

What is also disturbing is the Gov't may invoke the article which will preclude Ahok taking up his position even if he wins. Indonesian logic...WTF.....

"According to Article 83 of the 2014 Regional Administration Law, a regional head or deputy regional head who is charged with a crime that carries a minimum sentence of five years, should be suspended."

With all those forces from the outside pushing in, I can't see a fair election.

Because being mayor of Jakarta is a door for being president.
Out of the 16 governors Jakarta has had prior to Ahok, only Joko has become Presiden RI, and only Joko has run for presidency. Even though Sutiyoso declared that he wanted to run for presidency, both for the 2009 and 2014 election, he never gathered the necessary support to get nominated.

None of the Presiden RI post Soeharto have ever been governor of any province, be it DKI JKT or any other one, save for Joko.

Last, even if Ahok is reelected, he will not be the next Presiden RI, neither will Agus nor Anies. There are elephants waiting in the corridor and none of the runner of the DKI pilkada can compete with them.

So do you think that Agus or Anies could be the next Presiden RI?

No, but that doesn't mean that if he won the Jakarta election, Daddy wouldn't have him nominated somehow. He couldn't stand anywhere near the repeat of the Jokowi vs Prabowo fight.

I don't think anyone is fearing Ahok to run for president by VP could be in the cards and then president in 24.

If he won the JKT election? i don't think he really have a chance to be honest.

I also think that SBY knows that he would have no chance to have his 38 years old son accepted by a coalition of political party as a capres or cawapres in two years. Surely he wanted to launch him in the political arena, but i think that he is blinded by the love for his son. He was able to get his politically inexperienced son accepted for the Pilkada DKI because the strongmen of the PPP, PAN and PKB are not much interested by the job for themselves. Presidential election is another matter however.

Honestly I can't remember having read a serious iIndonesian political analyst attributing to SBY a will to have his son competing in the next presidential election. He is still a toddler comparing to any of the would be candidate.

Ahok is currently in the lead, on a quick shot of the votes so far, but only in the 45-6% range. Not enough to win outright.....yet.
Agus is done, finished...pathetically low numbers so far...it's humiliating for him.... if those people ever understand humiliation.

My wife just said she feels sorry for him...last week she was yelling at him on TV calling him an ass...:tape:...me

The Ahok election process can be a positive for the country. It brought up, was exploited by some, some real issues facing the country and their democratic process. Lets see how it turns out.

Thanks for the update. I unfortunately can't follow the result at the moment but keep it going please.
Do you know if your figures are a representation of the 5 Jakartan municipalities or are they figure concerning one or more municipalities?

Also how much is the gap between Anies and Ahok? I believe that Anies, backed up by Prabowo is the real danger for Ahok chances to be reelected.
