Car cameras.

I have been driving in Bali for 9 years. Full insurance and Indonesian driver's licence. I am aware of the theoretical procedures in the event of an accident but also aware that where a bule is involved the bule is usually blamed and compensation demanded.

I wonder about the value of installing cameras that record front, rear and sideways. What is the cost? And does potential benefit outway cost?

I understand that in the event of colliding with a motorbike it is expected that the car owner will compensate the owner of the motorbike for damage and possibly also for minor injury. In such a circumstance what is the situation if the motorbike owner or car driver cannot produce a licence? In such a circumstance is it best to ask for the police to be called or seek to just negotiate a way out?

I am a competent driver but accidents do happen. Would appreciate any tips or suggestions should I ever get involved in accident with a car or motorbike

Haven't seen one that records on the sides but both my cars have front and rear cameras. A good one is around 2.5 million or a little more. Mine also have GPS so it will show the location, time and speed along with the footage. So far haven't needed the footage from them but I look at it like insurance. Even if a motorbike in involved and I can show they were at fault. I'm less likely to have to pay.

Thank you. Can you mention what brand of camera, please?

Yes, I installed a set of 4K blackvue dashcam complete with a battery pack (for long-term parking mode) in my car. Not cheap though.
It saved me from a shameless extortion attempt when someone recklessly drove a motorbike and grazed my car. He was injured, his motorbike was damaged and mine was also scratched. He asked for money to go to the hospital and to repair his motorbike. When I refused, he tried to incite the crowd by raising the issue of rich people with luxury cars driving recklessly (I'm not bule). Luckily my wife immediately downloaded and showed the people around me how recklessly he drove zigzagging at an intersection trying to overtake me.
he got nothing but bruised limbs and dented scooter.

As so often, buying cheap is buying twice.

My brother in law who is a freak in these kind of things, threw out the Xiaomi equipment in the cars and replaced them with BlackVue solutions.

Thanks. I wonder, even with the video evidence, would you have got out without paying had you been a bule?
