Born in Born in Texas, spent 1/4 of my life there, on and off. Family is in North Carolina, spent 1/4 of my life there, on and off. 1/4 of my life spent in other, seemingly random, locations like Somerset, LLantwit Major, AZ and Utah. 1/4 of my life here, in Indonesia.
I don't remember tomatoes being particularly good anywhere, unless they were grown in someone's back yard.
Whereabouts in Texas? I have spent a bit of time down in the Rio Grande valley. Nice place in winterBurn's hole's into your head in summer if you stand outside too long.
Actually not all of the members are expats in Indonesia - some are Indonesian citizens. At least three members (I won't identify them, it is their choice to reveal as many or as few of their personal details as they choose) are Indonesians who live outside Indonesia.
As for me, I am from the Northeastern United States. But I have lived abroad for 27 of the last 30 years.
Americans are a dime a dozen; Macedonia is MUCH cooler. Do you ever meet fellow Macedonians here?
OK since some people said where they are coming from ..... I guess it is time for me. I am Polish, lived in UK (Yorkshire) for 6 years, now in Indonesia since 2012.
where in poland ? i worked in krakow and lublin and traveled quite a lot there ? great mushrooms, and pivo ha ha
Yorkshire, England.
My adopted home is Bandung.
Hahahah I live near Opole (near Wroclaw). Polish beer... yes it is nice I was drinking it while I was on my holidays. I was also eating a lot of pork food (ham and sausages) as well as all the traditional dishes. My wife likes Poland a lot especially food. Pricewise it is the same as Indonesia. Costs of living .... more or less the same as Indonesia. Flag is the same as Indonesian only colours are reversed. I find here a lot of similarities here and in my country. I "introduced" my wife to cherry trees (sweet and sour), apple/pear/walnut/plum trees, gooseberries, red/black/whitecurrents, bluberries ... any berries....and peaches.
For mushrooms the season is in September. Next time I will show my wife late summer and early autumn season (August and September). Each time I am showing her how each season/month looks like in village/city/wood ect.
Wow BA. I didn't realize you were a Yorkshire lass! I was born in Richmond, Yorkshire and lived for some time in Beverley. My mother's home town was Beverley. Like a lot of other members here, I have spent a large part of the last 30+ years living outside the country. More than 15 years in Spain (thank god that counts towards my UK pension entitlement) and approx 14 years here in Indonesia, with just a year break in China.
An Army brat. My people are from south central Missouri. I was born in Ft Louis Washington, Tacoma. Three years in Germany as a teen. One year in Vietnam as soldier. Now 42 years in Indonesia. Total time in the US was 19 years. I'm now 65.
So I guess you could say that I'm from...Indonesia???

ya I was in wroclaw a couple of times to meet some polish friends , yap the seasonal fruit was good ,summer in krakow was nice but winter in lublin grr , bloody cold .
ya a long time ago 1990 in krakow just after the independence , empty shops, you know the story about the bugler in santa marieski church , if you here 3 times ! ya I was back a few times for work over the next 10 years , it has changed a lot.
