What would you like to do or what do you usually do on your birthday?

Felicity I don't usually do much on my birthday......probably go out some where for a meal of my choice but if we are with some family they get together more and have cake, candles, singing and food. Perhaps something similar to this: Minus the minion violence......

Over the years I have done interesting things on and around my birthday if it was an 0 or a 5 - I recall for my 30th walking a circuit of Paris & having a beer in the Mc D's on the Champs Elysees.
Exploring Chester on my 25th
My 40th was a girls racing-week of camping & "doing " Ascot.
My 45th was marked by attending a concert but I have attended so many concerts they all blur now- so I forget which one- probably Cher/ Lionel Richie or Meatloaf :D
& as I have aged I care less about marking time & more about who I spend my time with, so nowadays if I am around home on my B/day I probably just invite friends over & we hang out in the garden with cake/donuts & coffee/beer & guitars - chilling & jamming.
I have always tried to not work on my b/day not for any special reason other than I like to have a lazy day now & then.

Why do you ask?
What do you like to do on your birthday?

For my 50th birthday I decided to do a solo parachute jump. Training consisted of a couple of hours in a hangar with one exercise standing on a chair and then jumping to the ground with knees bent. At the same time you were to count to 8 and then, assuming the parachute hadn't opened, you pulled an iron grip to release the emergency chute.
A young lady stood on the chair and hesitated. The instructor asked, "What next?"
"Panic," she replied and then explained she was frightened of heights.
On the day of the jump and after landing, my daughter said, "Dad, you're not 50. You're 49."
Duh!. So for my real 50th birthday I got into the back of our little Toyota corolla station wagon and told my son to drive up to the top of the Westgate Bridge in Melbourne and then pull into the emergency lane and stop. When he stopped I got out with my roller blades on and roller bladed down to the bottom. I hadn't realized just how much gravel and rubbish there was in the emergency lane. Anyway, made it safely and like to think I was the first to roller blade down the bridge.
So, next one is the 80th. Maybe another parachute jump?

For decades I do not celebrate my birthday. But this year is different.
I received invitation from colleague (American) to early celebrate his birthday since he would take leave. The D-day was exactly on my birthday date.
I thought nobody knows my birthday but LinkedIn automatically notified my birthday to all my connections including most if not all my colleagues.
The party then turned to my birthday party as well, a relatively big party,, more than 30 with plenty beer, wine and spirits.

@ Felicity.
So what is your comfort zone? What have you secretly envied of others' experiences?
What is your budget?
Personally I found the most rewarding & memorable experiences I've had have been those where I went "Ohh FK it, I'm gonna do it anyway" ( Usually accompanied by the thoughts of "ah if it kills me, at least I don't die slowly rotting away in a chair/bed).
It doesn't have to be extreme or sports related- it might just involve you as a woman taking yourself out to dinner somewhere nice & then to see a movie- things you might not do alone normally.

.
Get wasted.

No seriously, as Jehova's Witnesses we don't celebrate birthdays. So it probably will be some door-to-door proselytizing instead...

Whoahoho............now your talking and getting closer to my idea of fun. Just when I think you might not be somebody I could get along with, you change my whole perception of you.

I ask to give me an idea what to do on my upcoming birthday. If I ever make it. Some statistic shows people die near their birthday.

I'd like to getaway from my circle, meet strangers, so just thinking where to go....what to do.....

Actually Felicity in the larger picture it could seem you are feeling stressed and stuck in your life, for a while now. So you are looking at making some changes for a variety of reasons. Best wishes in making some positive changes.

I know this may come as a shock to some, but the concept of time is actually an illusion - albeit a very useful one. Yes, it was also hard for me when I first found out. That said, you've never really had a so-called "birthday", nor will you ever have one. If you don't believe me, just take a few illusory minutes and listen to this fine gentleman below.

That is ridiculous!!

I think you have a point there Daniel50, the stress is because I haven't taken any holiday this year.. But yeah, by holiday means as BA describes "Ohh FK it, I'm gonna do it anyway" ( Usually accompanied by the thoughts of "ah if it kills me, at least I don't die slowly rotting away in a chair/bed)"
So I thought I would take a holiday as well as birthday getaway at the same time just because it could be memorable, or whatever. As Indonesian, I just like to connect everything even though it's non sense.
I might go to Melbourne and cafe hopping (been curious with the coffee, is that worth it?), or aurora hunting (Russia?).

Bu then...

Felicity,

If you want to do something , just do it. You don't have to wait for a special day?

This sounds like hypnotherapy techniques. Regression and Future Pacing. Maybe there is no time, but only moment.
