Is there a difference between Surat Domisili and Surat keterangan Tempat Tinggal?

I asked my kelurahan for a surat domisil and they said they don't issue them (RT as well) . I went to imigrasi and they asked for a surat keterangan tempat tinggal and said I need to get it from my kelurahan.

Is this different? What are my options here if i can't get this surat?

Do you have a KITAS? Are you spouse sponsored? If so, take your surat domisili, passport copies, visa copies, copy of sponsors KTP and KK and request a SKTT. There are other things they need to process also.

Yes, on a spouse sponsored KITAS.

Take my surat Domisili... Woah woah woah, If I had one made, it was nearly 5 years ago and I don't know where it is. I just looked at my old SKTT which expired sometime in 2012. I recall this being made at catatan sipil.

Now I dont even know where to start. Current KITAS expires at the end of October so I do have some time.

Any suggestions?

Your SKTT should have been renewed after each KITAS. Visit your CatSip and ask them about renewing it. Will depend on the type of person working most likely. They may tell you to wait until you get new KITAS and then come in and update it since you are so close to that time. Surat Domisili may still be good if you haven't moved at all. That would have come from your Lurah.

Pak RT has a form; start there...then Pak RW etc.

It looks like this:

Surat Domisili is issued by RT/RW level official, which can then be used to obtain SKTT, which is a more official document issued by your local Catatan Sipil. Surat Domisili is basically just a form issued by your RT/RW saying that you live at the address you say you do.

This.
A surat domisili can even be handwritten, while a SKTT is, in most Kota and Kabupaten of the archipelago, a small card of the same format of the KTP WNI/WMA. Officially the color is green.
Another major difference is that the SKTT is a proof that you've registered as a (temporary) resident and that you've been given a 16 digit NIK (Nomor Induk Kependudukan) which may be of help for anyone willing to buy and register under his/her name a new vehicle.

Any Surat Domisili I have received was issued from the Lurah after handing over the paperwork from the RT/RW verifying my address. Both in Jakarta and Lampung. Depending where you are, at time the CatSip will issue a paper SKTT and not the card.

Ok so my problem is getting a surat domisili then. Seems like both the RT and Kelurahan don't want to issue it. Someone at the kelurahan asked for extra monies to make it happen, they've been paid and they have yet to deliver.

Can i write my own surat domisili?

Nope, you need it from the Lurah based on the RT form. I always give chocolate to the Pak RT. Otherwise he will be out of forms or ask me to come back in a couple of days...

I always give chocolate to the Pak RT.

I'm tempted to send a gift basket of chocolate flavored laxatives to the kelurahan. Ok not really... but i enjoy the thought of it. Not something i'd actually do.

Catatan Sipil Tangerang does not require surat domisil for SKTT.

They require the following :
Spouse's KTP
Spouse's KK
STM (Letter from POLSEK saying you behave yourself)
Passport
Copy of kitas

There's no fee for SKTT. But if you don't get it within two weeks of your KITAS renewal it's a 1 juta fine. Same fine if you don't report back after getting KITAP. They want you to be on the KK and you to have an e-KTP.

Thankfully the fines aren't recurring. So if you're like me and skip out on 4 renewals, it's still just 1 juta.

If you did manage to get your domisili - hang on to it- you will likely need it at KanIm for the ITAP

Hi Oom Ben,

we got the surat domisili from kelurahan - no cost. The most difficult part was getting the 'surat pengantar' from RT and later on RW - as usual. But the people at the kelurahan are really helpful.

On another topic - have you been to Giyanti for coffee lately? :)

When a KITAP holder relocates to a new province, by law is one required to obtain a new SKTT from the new Catatan Sipil for one's residence?

2 years ago when my family relocated from DKI Jakarta province to Banten province and I visited the Catatan Sipil office for city of Tangerang Selatan (in Banten province) to obtain a new KTP OA, the officials at that office told me that I did not need to receive a new SKTT issued by that office because I am a KITAP holder with a SKTT still valid from DKI Jakarta; last week I was told the same thing when I visited the same office to convert my paper KTP OA into an e-KTP : I am wondering if I need to get that statement in writing to avoid any future problem...

One thing that is confusing me is that you have both SKTT and KTP-OA. My understanding is that SKTT is for KITAS holders, while KTP-OA is for KITAP holders, and at no time do you hold both.

Mine too :/

4 1/2 + years ago after receiving my first KITAP, I received both my KTP-OA and SKTT from the Catatan Sipil office in DKI Jakarta : from memory, I was not charged any fees for either document nor do I remember any explanation from the officials at the Catatan Sipil office about why an SKTT was issued to me. During the past 4 1/2+ years, no government office has requested to see my SKTT, not even the Immigration office in Tangerang when I transferred my residency from DKI Jakarta province to Banten province.

However last week when I visited the Catatan Sipil office for city of Tangerang Selatan to convert my paper KTP OA into an e-KTP, I was given a list of personal documents for which I needed to provide photocopies and on that list KTP and SKTT were listed; so I informed the officials at that office that 2 years ago when I obtained a new paper KTP-OA from the same Catatan Sipil office for city of Tangerang Selatan, I was told by other officals at the same office that I did not need to receive a new SKTT issued by that office because I am a KITAP holder with a SKTT still valid from DKI Jakarta; last week the officials agreed about no need for a new SKTT to convert my paper KTP OA into an e-KTP. During that visit, I did not ask if I would be issued a new SKTT when I renew my KITAP in 3 months.

If the law states that for KITAP holders, only the KTP-OA should be issued and not a SKTT, then probably I will request that a statement in writing be issued by a high official at that Catatan Sipil office to avoid any possible problem in the future with other confused or naive government officials...
