SBY nominates son for Jakarta Governorship, "forgets" earlier admonition.

A coalition led by SBY's Democratic Party has put forward his son, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono as candidate in the upcoming Jakarta gubernatorial race. Agus, who is SBY's first son, is currently a Major in the Indonesian Army and commander of a mechanized infantry battalion. He has had a great career in the military, with many achievements, including a Master's degree from Harvard U.

However, in a December 2009 speech in Surabaya, the elder Yudhoyono has reminded officers of TNI and Polri to not seek civilian offices. He was quoted as saying that it is natural for an officer to want to be promoted to General, Admiral or Marshal (the equivalent rank in the TNI airforce), to serve the country as much as possible.

"But it is not correct if you enter the TNI-Police academy and aim to be regent, mayor, governor, entrepreneur etc. It's not right."

One thing I couldn't help but notice as was touring Java's south coast was this guy's face on 10m tall banners all over the Cilacap district...

His name is Bambang Suharto... Not THAT Bambang Soeharto... but apparently he's the new bupaten of the Cilacap regency. I've been looking at news on him, and I can't find any information whether or not he's related to the former president... I mean, Harto isn't that uncommon of a Javanese name... Anyone know?
