I see that Mastercard and Visa are suspending their Russian services. I wonder how many Russians in Indonesia rely on these cards and how they will manage here.

Or how they would even get back to Russia once their visa ends, since there are no flights going there any more.

One would like to think that their employers will sort something out for them and those here who aren't employed maybe had enough time to see this coming and work out an alternative- it has been all over the news for a while before it happened, hopefully it gave them enough time.

I would assume China will be a stepping stone for the time being- but to be fair if you were Russian & out of the country would you be even considering going back to it?
(unless you'd left your kids behind, I can't imagine any other compelling reason under the circumstances)

Any Russians stuck in Bali?

These are not the oligarchs and gang leaders, these are ordinary people like you and me just visiting somewhere warm with their families for a 2 week holiday.

Having had the displeasure of working in russia on a few occasions ,normal russians could not afford a 2 week foriegn holiday ,in fact most of them live in bali for months or years .

What kind of "dodgy" schemes fund their stay I wonder ??????? hmmm

I have no sympathy for shady ruskis struggling to get their dirty money .

Ordinary people but most I have met have been working but not necessarily keen to say working at what exactly and here for months not two weeks. As one said to me there are also a lot of Russian mafia embedded with corrupt police doing things like planting drugs on incoming passengers which then require payments to get out of the fix.

As an aside, Russians I have talked to are not Putin supporters saying he has been there too long.
